Twilight Movie Discussion

I saw the “Twilight” movie Friday and thought I would share my opinions. I’ll give my thoughts about the movie, and yes it will contain some spoilers. So if you haven’t seen the movie and want to be surprised, don’t read. So click on the “Read the rest of the entry” link below.

I also thought this is where everyone else could put their thoughts on the movie as well.

So what did I think?

To tell you the truth I was suprised I liked it as well as I did. The “Twilight” book was my least favorite of the series so I didn’t have high hopes. I thought they would stray too much from the book which would have disappointed me because I think with this series you really needed to adapt the movie as close to the book as possible and was happy to see the movie didn’t differ that much.

I thought the movie was a little slow, but it still kept me entertained. The famous one liners in the series have always entertained me and was quite happy alot were included in the movie. I was pretty sure the whole ” So did you stab Edward Cullen with a pencil or what? ” line should of been in the movie after witnessing Edward’s reaction to Bella in Biology class it would have been perfect the way he was acting. I had to explain to my husband why everyone else in the theater was laughing at the biology scene, he hasn’t read the books.

I thought Charlie was perfect in the movie. He had some great lines and scenes. Billy Black cracked me up too trying to play so hip. Emmett also cracked me up. He acts like an overgrown kid. Jasper though, was it just me or did he freak you out everytime he was on screen. Those facial expressions would freak anyone out. The whole kitchen scene when Bella meets the Cullen family I thought was great. I also thought Victoria did an amazing performance. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her in future movies, if they make them which I hope they do.

The special effects impressed me too. The scenes of them running through the forest and scaling trees was quite impressive.

I was disappointed with the whole meadow scene though. Seeing Edward sparkle in the sunlight is one of the scenes people were looking forward to most in the movie. I think they could have done a better job. They could have done something that would have been much more impressive. I’m not sure what, but hey I don’t get paid to think like that. I geuss it was cool, but I wasn’t very impressed.

So all and all I thought the movie was good. It exceeded my expectations, which you know for any true fan of the “Twilight” series is a hard thing to do. I think it is going to do well and the fans are truly going to enjoy it. That fact alone makes me extremely happy, because that means a “New Moon” movie should definitely be made. Well I’ve always been a Team Jacob fan and can’t wait to see the wolves.

Bring on the Pack!!!! I can’t wait!!!

So what did you think of the movie?
Did it live up to your expectations?

I thought Twilight was great! Robert was great as Edward. I dunno how much closer they coulda got. Kristen was good as well, she seemed a lil distant at times but other then that it was a great performance.
I agree they didnt have all the important keyy details but they had a certain budget to follow. In my opinion they did great with what they had.

I thought the movie was amazing!!! I will admit that it didn’t meet my expectations perfectly, but I still loved it! Emmett and Billy Black were so hilarious! The movie seemed more funny than the book, although the audience was laughing half the time just because, not necessarily because it was supposed to be funny.

OOO I especially loved the end with Victoria looking on them as they were dancing…CREEPY!!! It was so cool though because if you have read the books then you’d understand it’s kind of a lead into the next ones. I also loved the looked that was exchanged between Jacob and Edward at the prom when he was leading her away to go and dance. Oh who am I kidding I loved the whole thing!

Cam Gigandet (James) was amaing too! OMG I thought the ballet scene was the best thing ever. He is my favorite actor and it made me so sad the other day when I realized I was gonna have to watch him die, but I at least wanted to watch some sick, gore-y death, but they barely showed it! Except of course when Edward bit off part of her neck and when Alice completely ripped off his head. I just wanted it to focus on that for a minute and watch him being completely torn apart. lol I really loved how they added a couple scenes with the bad vampires before the actual baseball scene. You know, like when they killed that guy that was in the boat? I was surprised the girls in the audience (including myself) didn’t squeal a little when we saw a shirtless Cam! I loved how Laurent was like, “James, let’s not play with our food” haha.
Okay, well thank you for letting me go on and on and share my thoughts about this movie, it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Kelsey says:

omg I just found like three spelling mistakes that I made and I would like to apologize for them because spelling is my absolute pet peeve….okay

I also loved Robert too, haha I got so worked up about Cam I forgot to talk about Rob!! He was amazing too, but it was so weird for me to hear him not talking in his British accent. He did a great job of doing an American accent though, I couldn’t imagine anyone more perfect to play Edward! :)

I think Summit Entertainment did a phenomenal job. The actors they chose really described the characters. I can’t think of anyone who could have done a better job of Edward. At first I thought Kristen wouldn’t have done a very good job, but after seeing the movie, she fits the role of Bella just right.

I really didn’t picture Bella’s friends that way though. They seemed a tad nerdy.

Some people are saying that they didn’t like who they chose to play Jasper, but I think that if you read the books and understand them, they chose a great person for Jasper, and he did a great job.

I don’t think they chose the right character to play Rosalie. She’s supposed to be the prettiest person on earth and she wasn’t all that pretty.

I was a little disappointed with the meadow scene. When he walked into the sunlight I figured it would be a little more spectacular-when really you could hardly tell he was sparkling. It’s supposed to be a big deal that they sparkle so they should’ve done something different. And the sound effects? Tell me, was that really necessary? (:

Overall I thought the movie was fantastic. It’s my favorite movie and the people that didn’t like it need to read the books. Maybe then they’ll be a little more understanding. (: The special effects were done very well. I cannot wait for the second to see how they did the wolves. (:

    Twilight<33

It was overal a good movie. I think it could have been much better though. They really didn’t even mention Bella lullaby. He played the lullaby for her but they didn’t mention what it was. And they said nothing about Jaspers gift. And the whole movie seemed very rushed and choppy. Also I don’t like how they cut the meadow scene and that whole part. And even the little things like Edwards house is supposed to be white, and three floors, they didn’t mention how Esme lost a child and jumped off a clif. And were Jacob tells her the story about “the pale faces” was wrong. he calls them the cold ones and he went more into detail with that story. So many things were wrong. I didn’t expect it to be exactly like the book, but I expected it to be a lot closer.
And also, if I hadn’t read the book and went and saw it I wouldn’t have any clue what was going on. And it wouldn’t have seemed like the love story it is supposed to be.
For the most part I was upset with it.

  6. Abigail-Loves-Edward says:

Are you kidding me? I could not BELIEVE how fantastic this movie was! I couldn’t sit still! I was smiling and squealing the whole time, and if I had to rate this movie and book on a scale from 1 to 10, it would be a 500!! I’m sorry, but this is my opinion… though I couldn’t help but wonder why the scene where it’s her birthday and Jasper tries to attack her isn’t in it… Or could it be that that part is in New Moon? Ohh well, but I can’t wait to get Twilight, and to see “New Moon” when it comes out. There’s no doubt I’ll spread the word on this AWESOME movie! Ohh, and nice choice on the actor for Edward. Robert Pattinson is so hot! :)

  7. Alice Rocks says:

Abigail, that scene is in New Moon. But I cant wait to see it. Ireally diddnt even notice that they did not do the whole Bella’s lullaby scene. That should have been in there too. Again I will say if they needed to make the movie 3 hours so every thing would fit in I would have gone to see it!

  8. JessicaL says:

I absoulutely enjoyed the movie! My favorite line was when rosalie says “is she even italian” and emmet says “well her names bella” i quite enjoyed that. And i was kind of disappointed with the meadow scene and also disappointed they didnt put the scene were they are taking blood samples in biology and bella passes out. Also the whole her almost getting hit by the van that happens before school. But i loved roberts facial expression when she first walks into the classroom and when he is sucking the venom out of her and he cant stop it was hilarious…i odnt care what the critics say i bet they havent even read the book…i give props to the sexy robert pattinson and the gorgeous kristen stewert without them this movie would have been aweful..thanks guys!

  9. Deanna says:

i watched the midnight showing of twilight and i thought some of the movie was amazing but other parts were ehh… i did not really like how edward was able to climb and jump on trees… i loved how there was alot of funny parts… i love rob pattinson he is super hot i am for team edward all the way can not wait to see new moon <3

  10. Abigail-Loves-Edward says:

Thanks Alice Rocks… I knew it was one of the two. And anyone who is questioning to watch the movie, or read the books, the answer is YES. Please do, because they are amazing.

  11. kristin says:

I am a newer Twilight fan. Read the books in about 2 weeks. I have to say, I liked the movie, but it was definately lacking. The whole point was to develop Edward and Bella’s relationship. After the bedroom scene, what happened? Nothing. There was so much more they could’ve done.

And what was up with Bella and Charlie eating at a diner the whole time? Bella’s cooking was essential in the relationship dynamic for them and it was missing.

Introducing the villians was unnecessary and really made for lost time that could have been used on more important things, like Edward and Bella. I missed the whole nature of their relationship, the fear that he could always kill her whenever they were together. The way he looked at her and smiled, the way he would touch her face… The way it was described in the book was really nowhere near the depth that they put into the movie.

I have always been Team Edward and feel in the second movie, they will need to incorporate him alot more when he is gone. The second was my least favorite, largely because Edward is absent the majority of the time.

The meadow scene was downright corny. It wasn’t supposed to happen that way. They just walked away from school. It was much more built up in the book. I understand the movie is never exactly the same, but the screenwriters did take alot of liberties that seemed unnecessary.

I say, get back to the core of the book, Edward and Bella. For this to be great, the relationship between them is all you need!

  12. Beverly says:

In my opinion I thought the movie, OVERALL, was good. Not great, but good. I missed the blood typing scene and the meadow scene was not what I had expected but the actors deserve a job well done. I thought the casting was perfect for the movie with the exception of Jacob. I think maybe that role could have been filled a little bit better than Lautner, although he is a great actor. I’d expected him to be…something more. Maybe he’ll grow on me.
So as it worth standing in line for 45 minutes? Yes, it was. I give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. Like I said, The meadow scene was an important part. It was the meadow scene that really killed it. It should have been EXACTLY how the book described it. But that is my personal opinion. And also, A job well don to ALL the actors.

  13. JACOBLOVERS says:

OK….i just listened to a review on Twilight….it was good. He described the movie almost exactly as i would…. i mean… who was all dissappionted that Edward didn’t shine like they pictured him in the book? I was…i also pictured rays of light kind of bouncing off of him and even though it would have been kinky if they would have done that they should have made him shine more….
    I would give the movie a 5 or a 6 out of 10….
A lot of kids in my class went to see it even though they didn’t even read the books and they had the guts to tell me that i didn’t know what i was talking about when i said i was dissappointed!!!! I mean they had no idea that the meadow scene was supposed to be a lot longer and better….they had no idea that the lullaby by Edward was even a lullaby!!!! UGH!!! Come on….. I think there should have been a lot more romance and even though i am a team jacob fan i still think there should have been more romance between Edward and Bella. Did anybody notice how white Taylor’s teeth were?!?!? How does he do that… i have to admit he looks a lot better in that wig than i thought:) :)

  14. Mrs.Cullen (EDWARD AND CULLEN LOVERS) says:

the movie was really good i enjoyed it alot. i saw it friday and then again saturday which was yesterday. i have read twilight five times. i have the edward t-shirt and i wear all the time lol i love edward. my favorite parts were wen dey were in the biology class, the whole kissing scene in the movie, wen she met the Cullens family, how everone kept asking to the dance, umm how Edward he keeps saving her, and wen dey were in da hospital and how tyler kept apoligizing, oh and wen da Cullens first walked in the cafiteria. actually i enjoyed every muntute of this movie!!! all of the cullens were hot! buh i feel bad for jacob cuz he likes bella buh she loves edward and same wit edward towards bella. I am so lookin foward to seeing new moon. oh and im still going to see twilight again idk how many times in theatre lol i cant wait!!! :) TEAM EDWARD<333 muah EDWARD AND ROBERT PATTINSON!!!

  15. Team Cullen says:

Glad to see that we are not the only ones who are disappointed with the lack of chemistry between Edward and Bella. Since the entire series is based on an unimaginable love between these two characters, the fact that it was portrayed well was hugely detrimental to the movie. Although, we feel that Rob did a bang up job as Edward. We think that Bella could have been cast better. As far as the Cullens are concerned, for the 10 minutes we got to see them on screen they were great. They should have had alot more involvement in this movie being that the next three books are centered around their family. Something we especially missed was Bella’s relationship with Alice. In the movie Alice actually says ” We are going to be great friends, I can see it” But we sure didn’t see it. We don’t feel that the soundtrack was used well at all either. Especially that Bella’s Lullaby was not even mentioned. That was one of the parts in that book that really showed how much Edward felt for Bella.
We agree with other posters that in the book, James, Victoria and Laurent didn’t have any introduction at all and the movie should have been the same. The bad vamps were cast perfectly, though. It was really great to see the fight scene at the end. We liked how Alice broke James’ neck. Very cool. BRAVO ALICE! All in all, the movie was entertaining though disappointing. Hopefully when New Moon comes out, Rob and Kristin will have worked out their awkwardness and the producers and writers will take alot more from the books that made this series so amazingly famous.

PS…the baseball scene was badass! and did we mention that Rob was smokin hot?

  16. Mrs. Marina Cullen says:

i am one of the BiGGEST twilight fans out there. everything i do is based on those books. im in LOVE with edward cullen, so i think its obvious im Team Edward. I think the move was amazing, but some thing that were said in the book should have been on there. i do really think there could have been a better bella, but rob did a freakin amazing job. i didnt think anyone could get that close to how i pictured edward, he wuz perfect! and yes, the meadow scene, it should have been much longer, and they should have done a better job with him sparkaling. i mean seriously, it looked like they threw on some sparkles and sent him out there. but still, it was beautiful. Edward and bella should have at least said i love you once, but no. seriously, they didnt have that spark that edward and bella had, they were so close, so intamate…but on screen, it was weak. i cant wait for New Moon to come out, though i could do without jacob trying to steal bella away frome Edward. Id wanna be the one to punch him in the face, or at least throw a really big rock. [[just get edward to do it. :D ]]
all in all, it was the best move i had ever seen
    :]?

  17. Mrs. Marina Cullen says:

PS..Robert pattison as Edward…sexxii az hell!

  18. Brit says:

i thought i would be disappointed bc the books are always better, and at the beginning i was disappointed but towards the middle and the end it got better and i got really absorbed in it. My boyfriend kept asking me questions that i wouldnt answere bc i could not pry my eyes off the screen and i kept getting on his nerves bc i new the lines and would say them as the characters did.Ive read twiligth 3 times and the rest of them twice. you can say im more than obsessed. but i do agree about KS. She almost over did the whole dazzled role she was supposed to portray. I understand she was supposed to have trouble with words around him,who wouldnt? but she almost over did it. i wasnt pleased she almost came off as a little slow. but it was the first film and i know that their portrayal of the characters is only gonna get better as the movies continue. And robert pattison isnt exactly how i pictured my edward cullen but he was still gorgeous.he definitely needed to smile that famous edward cullen smile more, he always looked in pain and mad. but I can see how hard the roles of the cullens would be to portray. I think Rosalie and emmett were perfect ANd they were beautiful together. emmett especially.mmm…. the only prbblem i had with edward and bella is they almost looked like brother and sister with their similar hair color and pale white skin. I was alittle disappointed. But i look forward to New Moon.and am very excited.Twilight is the best movie ive ever seen. and the whole twilight series are by far the best books ive ever read and probably always will be. I look forward to Breaking dawn as a motion picture. it was my fav and the best in my oppinion.

  19. Brit says:

Ps:Jacob was absolutely adorable and perfect thats exactly how i pictured him. but that still change the fact that im Team Edward whole-heartedly.

  20. Emily says:

I was slightly disapointed with the move. I had very high expectations for the movie but, they took out some of the things that I enjoyed most in the book. After I saw the movie, I came home and re-read the book and I realized something..It never ties James and Alice together, he is the only one who knows about her human life and he said nothing about it in the movie…infact…I don’t remember Edward discussing his talents and then Bella asking about the rest of his family.

Also, Kristen Stewart did kind of suck. She sounds like a man and honestly..I don’t think she even read the book..he character was wrong.

  21. I thought the movie was AMAZING!!!
I will admit I was a little bit disappointed with how it was put together and how some scenes were completely different from what was portrayed in the book…but that was to be expected. I had such high expectations for the movie, and all of that was based on what was in the book. Overall it was amazing and i loved it!

  22. Alice Rocks says:

Emily, you are so right that they did not mention Alice’s history. Hmmmmm you think I would have picked that right out. That blows big time. I am starting to realize how much information was left out of the movie. (see my review above for the big points numbers 100 and 101) Themovie was still great but they need to re-do it.

  23. Sum41Slave says:

Ok, first of all, I think everyone is forgetting how much of a bind Summit was in, they hadn’t produced a hit yet, and no one was seeing their movies. For a independent company to make a film like this, i give them an big pat on the back. They have made over 70 million dollars on a movie that was only 35 million to make…and honestly, do any of you think you could do any better? id like to see one of you go and try to act the part of Bella or Edward or even Carlisle and see how many screaming fans would be ticked off at the fact they picked you to play that role. I think KS did a great job as Bella, i imagined her exactly that way, and also RP as Edward, hats off to him to play one of the most hardest roles i have ever seen, imagine trying to be the most beautiful man on earth compared to a greek god? honestly…I think the movie was also slow, but wasnt the book also? of course they left things out, sped things up, added certain things but jeese, all in all it was a great movie that kept you wanting more of that emotion, we all crave for a love like that, and frankly Twilight gives it to us. Hats off to the cast and producers, great job!!!

  24. ashleigh says:

i liked the movie as much as someone can like a movie like that. the acting was HORRIBLE though. i laughed a lot when Dr.Cullen came in to the hospitile …….his face! it was wayyyyy to white! i am sorry to say that edward did much better in harry potter. i liked alice a lot, thought she was cool.
