“The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn,” he said. “She’s not very good.”

I don’t car who he thinks he is! That is just downright mean!

We all know the truth, though!

  5. Selina*Edward says:

I agree with you all, the Stephan has acted was childish of him. Regardless if the novel feeds of to the majority of females. Stephan should of just kept his opinions to himself. And yes Bellaaaaaa it was very rude of him. You would think he would have a little more dignity.

I know it’s been a while but this really had to be said somewhere on here. Stephen King has been writing for decades and knew what he was talking about – not to mention, he was ASKED for his opinion on the matter. It’s not like he just said it for no reason (and he had VERY good reasons for saying what he did).

Secondly, Stephenie Meyer has unreasonably and unprofessionally bashed works like Wicked Lovely in interviews. So it’s perfectly okay when Meyer gives a negative opinion but when Stephen King does it, it’s a MEAN CRIME and he should “just keep his opinions to himself (even though he was ASKED for it)”?

Too often fans are way too defensive of Twilight, like it’s their bible or something and Meyer is some kind of goddess who can do no wrong. They just feel the need to defend both Meyer and her completely disrespectful attitude to her fans (and the literary world in general) so aggressively, because they live vicariously through this stuff and when someone expresses a negative opinion on Twilight, its characters or even Meyer, they take it as a personal attack. God forbid somebody is allowed to express a negative opinion on Twilight or Meyer without being unfairly labelled “mean” or jealous”… Pathetic, really. Just pitiful.
