MTV asked James Marsters, who played Vampire Spike on the TV shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”, who would win in a fight between Spike and Edward. He said Spike. Read the article here.
On a side night, I own all the seasons of both “Buffy” and “Angel” and I’m sorry Spike would wipe the floor with Edward. Spike is a fighter, Edward is a lover.

Not so sure? Its a lot easier to kill vampires in Buffy’s world! Stake, Sunlight, ex. ex. more weaknesses too like holy water and crosses! It seems that Edward is faster , stronger and less destructible!
Almost forgot! If it was daytime spike would burn and edward would just sparkle! lol
hellz yes Spike would win. He fought so hard for his soul and never gave up. He is also a lover since the only reason he was trying to get a soul was for Buffy. Plus, he has alot more experience being around for alot longer than Ed.
Spike sacrificed himself for Buffy and the Potentials, so the whole love conquers all thing doesn’t prove anything in this case. But Spike would totally kick Edwards ass. I’d pay to see that fight, they’re both HOT!!
Spike may win because Edward is a lover. This is what I think he might say,” I’m lover not a fighter, but I will fight for what I lover!”

the vampires i buffy are not NEARLY as powerful in any aspect…edward may be alover..but when he fights..he fights..and its most likely for bellas sake and if thats the case he will kill you in one second ..plus it is so much easier to kill a buffy vampire than a twilight one…

Edward would win.
Yeah – Spike is more vicious and has been in more fights BUT Edward could anticipate ANY move Spike made with his telepathy, move WAY faster than him and have to be torn apart and burnt – Spike could be staked, holywatered, burnt, sunlighted etc…
Much as I adore Spike and think he’s far more bad-ass and tougher – Edward would win. He has far more advantages unless Spike used magic.
Edward would win hands down. As pointed out-
1.. Edward can read minds- see the moves before they are made. It’s not something he can turn off, and he can’t really be caught unaware in that regard. (Unless he’s making out with Bella or something… Ha.)
2. Edward never needs rest- unlimited strength, speed, etc. In Buffy’s world, vampires need to take a break.
3. No matter how vicious Spike is, he’s killed 100 times easier than Edward. If they’re locked in a brawl- no breaks- and it happens to be outside, the sun would fry Spike, and Edward would just sparkle. *giggle*
Or you could just throw a bucket of holy water on both of them- Spike would burn, essentially, and Edward would look like a drop-dead gorgeous model in the rain.

Oh come on guys…think about it Spike, yeah he might be strong and love to fight. But a fight with Edward there would be no contest. Edward would know what Spike was thinking before Spike could react. Even if you take all the differences of the show and books out. Edward so win just because of his special talent!!! Even Alice could beat Spike for that matter!!!! Go Cullens!!
all i have to say is in the end edward would win cause ya no hes kinda hard to kill and a lot stronger then buffy vampires annnnnd can go out in day time dont get me wrong i loveeee buffy and angel butt when it comes down to it edward winss

Spike! Spike is ruthless and has actually fun hurting people (before the chip). Edward is too civil and polite.
But oh, what I would give to see them both fighting, preferably shirtless.
Spike would NEVER win a fight between Edward cullen!!! Yes, he has more skill and more expirience when fighting but Edward cullen is more, more stronger! But on the other hand, Spike has won thousands of fights with Angel, so theres a posibility Spike would win against Edwars. <3 xoxo
Anyway, whist Edward is beating the hell out of Spike, spike will bleed… and thats not a good thing. LOL. Jasper would just be helpful and take Spike’s blood…!

Spike has more chance of dying than Edward. And vampires like Spike are just weak and rubbish compared to vampires like Edward…! The cullens could just get the wolf’s to help them anyways, like the did in Eclipse with the neew borns. AND…. If Edward can kill James and Victoria he CAN kill Spike! AND THATS A FACT!!!!!!

Ummm…. Spike or Edward. … umm… EDWARD always wins. Edward can kick Spikes ASS any day for alot of reasons. 1. Spike is a weak vampire compared to Edward i mean all u have to do to Kill Spike is put him in the sun, Edward u would have to try alot harder then that to kill Edward. 2 Yah maybe spike is a perfessional at fighting but When it comes to Bella Edward would Kill A THOUSAND VAMPIRES. 3. Edward has a family and when one person’s in trouble the family comes to the rescue. But one thing THAT MAYBE ALL OF U GUYS would not know is that 1 the wolves would not help the cullens for the cullens if Bella was the reason then the wolves would fight as well. 2. there are 2 ways to Kill Edward Cullen 1. Rip him apart and burn the peices ( HA spike i loved to see you try) and 2. Kill Bella. IF ANY OF YOU GUYS READ NEW MOON or the end of it then you’ll see where i’m going at. Spike would kick Edward’s arse. He is the big bad and the slayer is supposed to be stronger than all vampires and Spike killed two slayers. Spike has killed werewolves, demons, and stuff a heck of a lot more scary than Edward. And lets not forget that Spike’s badass girlfriend Buffy would be two clicks behind him and she could also wipe the floor with Edward.
Sorry Spike, but Edward would DOMINATE. He’s an amazing fighter, CAN READ MINDS, and if Bella was in danger, you would NOT wanna get in his way!! And also, Edward sparkles in sunlight, while Spike burns (What a loser!!
) Edward also has Emmett, Jasper, and in the end, the werewolf pack… Spike stands absolutely no chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edward is definately better. But, “Spike” could play Caius very well.

Spike would win, and I’m sure of it. He’s got this shiny “For-Champions-Only” Necklace that could kill tons of vampires in an instant. Plus, he saved the world twice. TWICE and sacrificed his own entire being for mankind. AND. AND. He might be a fool for love but at least, he’s man enough to say it. Edward would’ve killed himself if ever Bella rejected him. and just incase that Spike doesn’t, Buffy would totally dust all of the Cullens.

This is interesting, because me and one of my friends are always having arguments over Buffy vs Twilight. Our latest was ‘Who would win in a fight out of the Buffyverse characters and the Twilight characters’ I was Buffyverse, my friend was Twilight. Buffyverse won easily. It came down to Volturi vs the Big Bads.
And the people that say Spike would have nothing to fight for? Now, I don’t ship Spike/Buffy (hate it in fact) but Spike loves her. He’d be fighting either for her, her friends, or to save the world.
Spike had saved the world, as Finding Ceej said, twice. Edward? ‘Saving the world? All I can do is sparkle!’

OMG, Spike!! There is no question! I also own the series (just finished watching all 7seasons for the third time \o/ -have to get a job:( ) But Edward is really not mean and buff like Spike (He is clearly my favourite

Spike could probably take angel, he was a way better guy too. Spike has a soul (which he fought for unlike Angel who was cursed) and of course he has reason to fight, besides he pretty much just enjoys fighting. While Edward would be fighting for his life Spike would be getting a bit of a work out.
But ‘MEH’ sums it up -Edward sparkles and Spike… Ah Spike shines.

Spike wins, end of story. He’s just as strong and as fast as Edward. Edward, for one, won’t be able to read Spikes mind. (IE Reference BTVS S3 Ear shot)
Like the the mirror, the thoughts are their but they cast no reflection. Since spike will only fight Edward at night, once staking him fails, he’ll go straight for decapitation and Throw the pieces on the fire. Or heck, he’ll throw the limbs on the fire and leave Edward Mcstumpy alive to brood in limbless hell. but that’ll be okay, cause he’s got a Mormon slave girl to contend with.
I agree with TheKidFlash, there’s evidence that Edward’s mindreading wouldn’t work on Spike. If it did, he’d probably go crazy after getting a taste of the wretched thoughts that go through Spike’s mind. Distraction = dead.
If you really want to pull the “Edward’s a LUVERRRR!” argument, what do you think would happen in Ed vs. Angel? Angel has literally been to Hell and back for his love. And, like Spike, he’s faced the Biggest Bads out there, the Powers That Be, AND he’s BEEN the Biggest Bad. Sure, neither one has a reason to start a fight (Spike will take any handy excuse), but if they really threw down, my money’s on the vamp who a working business model.
If it was Edward vs Angel, Angel would still win. Everyone keeps saying that the Buffyverse Vampires die easily, but have the Cullens actually been in a real fight, there was one against James, 7 v 2, Victoria which was 7 + wolfs v 19 which wasnt that bad and then the final fight, where er nothing happened!!!
In Buffyverse theres the HellMouth, these vamps know how to fight. I know whoes side i would pick..Buffyverse side!!

Ok people use your heads here first off spike is a lover before he was in love with buffy he was in love with dru before dru it was secally or how ever you spell it…so the lover thing is cut right out…first off second off no edward has no strength, spike can run and jump just as fast and sure edward wont die from just a steak through the cheast however when spike rips his head off his shoulders bare he’ll be dead…In twilight it took how many vamps to kill just one and in buffy how many vamps did spike kill on his own…exactly and as for having a reason to fight if you haven’t seen spike dude will fight for any reason…more than likely his biggest reason for fighting edward would be because edward is the worst repensentation of vampires ever….Stephanie Myers created the worst set of vampires to ever make the screen…I mean seriously if any girl in the world woke up to find a guy broke into your house to watch you sleep you would be calling the cops cause dudes a stalker…
