One of our readers, Arianna, sent us the link to this article by the Denver Creative Arts Examiner entitled, “The top ten greatest (and suckiest) things about “Twilight” the movie”.

Here is what she list as the #1 suckiest and greatest moments:

Number #1 Suckiest – The almost criminal neglect of developing the love story

So many fantastic lines, wasted! If you notice, they don’t actually say “I love you” once in this whole movie! The point is… so much time is spent on everything but the damn love story in this movie. Charlie, Renee, Jessica, Eric, Mike, Jacob, Billy, Weyland, the nomadic vampires set-up, the baseball scene, come on already. This is a love story. So make it that way. Sheesh.

Number #1 Greatest – Robert Pattinson.

Ah, is there much to say? Just look at him. I drooled all over myself when I first saw him in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” as Cedric Diggory, so you can imagine my hysterical joy when I found out he’d be playing Edward Cullen. Now, some of you do not share my views, and that’s unfortunate, but the majority of fans are thrilled to have him. (See video of him being choked by fans in NYC) The eyes, the lips, the cheekbones, the jawline, the crooked smile, the soulful singing, the deep mind… sigh. Good stuff, Summit. Let’s be completely honest here. Most actors when given this role would never have done the massive amount of research that Robert Pattinson did for it. This guy took it seriously, as serious as an Academy Award nominated role. Which, for the Twilight movie, was so deeply appreciated instead of just winging it and knowing that he’d be loved no matter what. So thank you, Robert, for taking it seriously and for giving us the best Edward Cullen we could possibly deserve. Thank you, thank you.

Below are the links to all the rest of the suckiest and greatest moments.

You can see the article for reasons 1-6 at this link.

You can see the article for reasons 7 and 8 at this link.

So what do you think?
Agree or disagrees with her suckiest and greatest moments?

On a side note is suckiest an actual word? It doesn’t sound right. My spell checker says it isn’t? Oh I don’t know it’s 2:30 in the morning, maybe I’m getting tired LOL!!!
Hope you all enjoy the articles.

  1. Roxi says:

Totally agree with the 1# suckiest….

The ONLY close enough “i love you” is “So the lion fell in love with the lamb”

In the book it is said heaps… why not in the movie!?

I know a lot of people who have never read the books complained they fall in love so quickly… to be honest, I think in the movie they should’ve been specific about how long it took them to actually be with each other/ fall in love, like in the books.

  2. luna7996 says:

    Agree with Roxi.

and Leandra Suckiest I think is like the new hip word of the year or something. Its not the first time I hear it.

    I kind of like it

    suckiest suckiest suckies.

  3. klutzy says:

most of those were pretty accurate in my opinion, but the movie wasn’t as bad as she makes it sound i think…:]

  4. Team Carlisle says:

I agree kultzy. But after reading that, I might look at the movie a little different. She made some good points, well worth the read!!

  5. TEAM EDWARD says:

My #1 suckiest moment was in the hospital when Edward tells Bella he needs to leave to keep her safe. She’s like “no, wha, ha, ug, hu,no, you can’t, huh, what are you saying, huh, wha….” It goes on for way too long. Spit it out already! That moment killed the entire scene.

  6. Arianna says:

The only thing a didn’t agree whit her was the restaurant scene I though he was sweet
And the cat line was actually really funny to me

And totally agree in the fact that they waste to many great lines and should spent more time whit their romance, that ‘s the point of everything

  7. TIFFANY says:

ya, i agree, and disagree with her
i think she spend too much time complaining about things that wernt that bad! i saw the film first(even tho i red the 4 books right after-starting that night, and have since read them multiple times), and i LOVED the movie!!i fallowed it fine, and fell deeply for their love story!! then, duh, once i read twilight, i was like, WHAT? THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FILM ,SO SHOULD THAT!!

bottom line, things r differen in films because they have to come across differently than needed in books. MY MAIN PROB, NEED MORE LINES FROM BOOK, THE ROMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH STRONGER!!!

i TOTALLY agree with what she said about kristen stewart and rob pattinson as actors!!!!

    @TEAM EDWARD
kristen stewart said that she was pissed during that scene as well. she wanted bella to hae more lines because there would b much to say, but cathrine said no(watch twilight commentary). AND I AGREE WITH U AND KS!

  8. aliceann says:

i totally agree with the whole love story thing. i luved the movie, but rly do wish they could have said i luv u. i mean u could tell he was protective of her, but not rly tell that she means more than his existence to him. and that he would do anything for her. but i’m glad their having them say i luv you in new moon :)

  9. Katie says:

You know I think he mouths “I love you” to Bella when she is in the Mercedes with Alice and Jasper and Edward is standing there telling Bella “you are my life now”. After he says that and before they drive away he mouths “I love you”

  10. TIFFANY says:

REALLY?!!!! OMG, IM GOING TO HAE TO CHECK THAT OUT NOW, LOL!

  11. TEAM CARLISLE says:

I agree with TeamEdward, I didnt like that part in the hospital, it ruined it for me to. Yea the lack of saying I love you hurt the movie abit. My fav book is Eclipse, alot because HE REALLY SHOWS HIS LOVE IN THIS ONE> I really hope that they dont leave that out of the movie.

  12. TEAM CARLISLE says:

Sorry Katie, I just went check that part out and I didnt see him mouth anything. I wish he would have kissed her like in the book, to me they should have added Jasper telling her she was wrong that she was worth it, I liked that part in the book.

  13. Arianna says:

    @Katie NOP! HE DOSEN’T

  14. cullen101 says:

i agree rob was the best thing about twilight,i love the cullens.Go twilight!

  15. TooObsessed says:

Yes, I also am too obsessed for my own good. Megan, I think we are kindered spirits or have parallel lives or something (except for that I’m probably about 10 yrs. older than you). As most people I too have read everything about 15 times and watched the movie a million. All the things I love about the movie and all the things I felt were such a huge injustice – You hit them all dead on. Like you read my mind (no pun intended). Even my anger toward Melissa, Catherine, and the special effects. And Rob – Oh Rob. I feel like I’m cheating on my husband I’m so in love with him. I also agree with comment #5 about the hospital scene. I’m not sure how excited I am about the following movies because #1 (as with the book) New Moon will have only a little Edward. #2 The rest of the books will just get trickier and trickier to capture. Although, I’m sure I’ll own them and watch them 20,000 times too. Can’t wait to see what you say about those?? Thanks for making me feel like I’m not the only one! Email me if you need a similar detail obsessed fan to bounce ideas of off!

  16. TEAM CARLISLE says:

TooObsessed, Im knida like you ,obsessed. I feel strange at my age to be like this!!

  17. Jasper's Wife says:

I agreed with a lot of what the articles said. However as somebody mentioned earlier those things didn’t jump out to you at first but now that you think about it , they do. I do think that the love story was not as well developed as it could have been. In the book there were so many times when Edward would say or do something and I’d be like ” Aww that’s so cute! ” and it was entirely left out or not as cute in the movie. I’m so looking forward to New Moon, I think it is going to be great!

  18. Jesse says:

i agree with you they left out so much info that should have been there. i spent a lot of time explainig the story to my mother while watching the movie. why would they add stuff when they could have added more vital info

  19. constanza says:

i agree with mist stuff she says.. altho bout the eric thing, i rly liked it were he says “la push baby la push” n bella says “ok i’ll go if u stop sayin that”.. :D LOL!!

also, i love how the person wrote all this.. it made me crack up!!!
    for example:
-By the way, they were grown men, not tweeny-bopping boys whose @sses the Jonas Brothers could kick
-thought it would be best for Edward to get out of the car and… what? Go “Booga booga!” at them and then have them just… run away?

LOL!!! readin this gave me a good laff..

  20. Georgie says:

I’m afraid I’m going to have to disagree with Greatest #2. I don’t think Kristen portrayed Bella well AT ALL. She was absolutely HORRIBLE. She still hasn’t grasped the idea of what an icon Bella is–how important she is to us, and why she’s so important in the story. NOW, I’m NOT trying to be mean just read this before you go any further: I LIKE KRISTEN…I JUST DON’T LIKE HER ACTING. Make sure to keep that in mind. Okay, Bella is suppose to be a clumsy awkward person, who is extremely self-conscious, weak and vulnerable–but she’s strong mentally and emotionally and knows what she wants. In the movie, Kristen Stewart portrayed bella as a shy tomboy who constantly blinked a lot and only fell ONE TIME. There were other things that were wrong with her, but I would’t want to disappoint the KStew fans out there, now would I? On the other hand, I completely applaud Mr. Pattinson for his hard work at being Edward. I think he probably could have worked on a few things, but other than that did a flawless job (after all, it’s incredibly hard to portray someone who’s in an internal conflict with himself. I’m beginning to think Edward is a character NO ONE can portray.). Another thing why Kristen stewart disappointed me was, SHE DIDN’T ACT LIKE SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH HIM!!! WTF?! Throughout the whole series Bella is always “unconditionally and irrevocably in love” with Edward. As a matter of fact, THAT’S THE WHOLE REASON for the series to continue! Bella’s and Edward’s love is the REASON why the twilight saga IS the twilight saga. I could put up with the crap Kristen Stewart pretty much pooped on the big screen, but, I’m sorry, I was VERY VERY VERY disappointed with how the Bella and Edward from the movie was portrayed. VERY disappointed. Kristen doesn’t act like she’s “unconditionally and irrevocably” in love with Edward. She looked more like she had a crush on him, one that’ll pass soon. I just don’t SEE the chemistry between them! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve TRIED, but…nothing. All i see is two people playing different roles, and one doing a very horrible job. Whew. Okay, I finally got that out of my chest. Just LISTEN to my opinion before you say anything bad about me. You don’t have to agree with me, but just have a moment to read this. thanks. :) Remember: I LIKE KRISTEN, I just don’t like her as a choice for Bella or as an actress. :)

  21. teamlautner says:

ima have to agree with georgie…kirsten could have done a waaaaay better job as bella…like the part where she’s in the hospital and starts babbling when edward says she should go to jacksonville….that was weird…..and also when bella leaves her dad she says “i dont wanna b stuck here like mom”…thats not in the book!! in the book she says “just let me go charlie, i really really hate forks”..that line would have been way better

EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GREAT!! i loved wut the person wrote…i agreed with everything..it was hilarious too….GO TWILIGHT!! also..i hope they do a way better job with new moon

  22. Georgie says:

she could have HAD some potential if she really tried, but she acts like she doesn’t care about the character Bella, which really bugs the heck out of me.

  23. sammy! says:

i read it and agree with it! if it wasn’t because most of us knew the story the movie would have bombed! when i saw the movie i was angry and annoyed that alot of the important scenes were gone or jammed into a 3 minute scene! thank god that we were able to drrol over rob and taylor that alice was a perfect match and that bella was actually played well!

  24. mykaela says:

i agree with most of those, i got soooo mad when i didnt hear, “i love you” in the movie. i used to think kristen wasnt a good bella because she didnt look like the most innocent teenager in the world, but later on, i decided she did well.

  25. koda says:

i have come to the conclusion that there is the bok version, and the movie version. i like to think of them as two different units. the book was fricken awesome, and the movie… you catch my drift. i was so disappointed when i left the theater, but when i saw it again, i was able to push the actual story aside, and come to the conclusion that it was okay, with a lot to be desired. there will always be my version of the books in my head, and then someone elses on the big screen.

  26. flipfresh says:

    @ Georgie

I just wanna say that I respect your opinion. No ill will or anything. But I wanted to point out that Kristen showed more than once of Bella’s clumsiness than just falling ONE TIME as you say. Here is a list of where Kristen showed Bella’s clumsiness that I remember.

    1. Getting her truck from Jacob Black and Billy Black Scene – She opens the door to fast and hits Jacob with it.
    2. Bella meets Edward in their Biology class for the first time Scene – She is feeling very scared trips on her chair when she tries to sit next to Edward.
    3. Coming out of her house Scene – She completely falls on her butt aftering slipping on ice (which I think your are referring to).
    4. Biology Greenhouse Field Trip Scene – She trips while talking to Edward and he gets angry.
    5. Coming home after the Field Trip and has an awkward talk with Charlie Scene – She tries to put her backpack on the dining room chair and fails, which the backpack falls on the floor loudly.
    6. The Meadow Scene – When She is following Edward around the rock, she trips on the tree root.

As you can see, Kristen protrayed Bella’s clumsiness real well. Also, I definitely see the chemistry between the characters. The way she looks at him shows she loves him, especially the scene at the restaurant, where Edward is looking very sad after saying the line “I told you I can hear voices, and you say there’s something wrong with you”, she looks sad also and deeply concerned, and very empathically, ask him what’s wrong. So, I for one, adored Kristen as Bella. There’s more things I can say but I think that’s enough. She is the only Bella I see.

  27. Lyllyanna says:

OMG! That woman was reading my thought, absolutely. I agreed with almost everything. Edward is and will always be a gentlemen to Bella. I HATE that scene in the greenhouse, you know, when he gets mad at her for falling. I believe that Edward would have never ever done that to Bella. She was right about them not holding more strongly to the love story. I thought personally that Bella needed to be more clumsier. She was not clumsy enough in the movie. I thought that Rose and Em relationship was WAY too fake. Jasper(Jackson) looked WAY to much like a serial killer then Edward(Rob) did.
Now, I know that we cant make EVERYTHING like the book, I totally understand that. But come on people, the guy who played James was unbelievable. That guy was, my word, cant even put in word how great he was. I HATE that they never put that ALL the Cullens went to the prom. And what the hell was up with that dress and one sneaker?! She was wearing heels in the book. The thing that they REALLY NEEDED WAS MORE, MORE, MORE DIALOGE! NOT ENOUGH! THE BEDROOM SCENE WAS DREADFUL!
I still don’t like that movie, I bought it as part of my collection. I never watch it, but I have it. I not going to watch New Moon until it hit the cheapies , because I’m afraid that it will be as TERRIBLE as Twilight.

  28. Arianna says:

    @ flipfresh
    Thank you!!

  29. ysatis :] says:

LMFAO * “team edward” qood point. but thats waht makes “bella”. i aqree w| most of these. he should of deff said “i love you” like in the book. i personaly love the books much better :] but i like the movie as well because my mind can just kick back & let the movie do the work ( instead of having to play the scenes in my head ) — and @ flipflesh : your so right :]

  30. They don’t know what their talkin about.
Twilight is the best movie ever made.
    HERE’S MY TOP 5 MOVIES

    4. Mall Cop
    5. New Moon

  31. Sorry I put New Moon at #5 I wasn’t thinking It’s #2 and then Madea Goes To Jail and the rest.

  32. the one thing i hate about twilight is bella…shes too needy for edward! ughh!

  33. BUGGIE says:

i love the picture and the sayin they make a gooood couple

  34. BUGGIE says:

that is down right wrong cullen_lover23
    she is not

  35. Mary says:

Katie, I just checked that part of the movie again, and he totally mouthed I love you! I can’t believe I didn’t notice it before. However, that doesn’t excuse them not saying that to each other the whole movie :(

This woman was right on about everything. I think it’s the fairest article I’ve ever seen for this movie.

I’m 50/50 on this movie. It’s not all bad, but not the greatest either. I just can’t forgive what they left out and replaced with crap that didn’t happen. Why in the world did they use the diner to eat at? How hard would it have been to show Bella pulling a casserole out of the oven and setting it on the table? That would have hinted that she does the cooking and takes care of Charlie. Why oh why didn’t Edward come clean in the car ride home? They could have had Jacob tell her the Cullens were vampires (exactly like the book), show her doing her internet research BEFORE Port Angeles; he rescues her, they have dinner; in the car, Edward comes clean to Bella. This would have easily fit in had they not put in the ridiculous police station scene that totally wasted time. AND, had they done it like that, there would have been so much more time for the meadow scene. It was so cluttered with her finding out about him there that they barely had time for anything else. Megan was right, the whole meadow scene was a slap in the face. And the hospital scene was dreadful. It had so much potential to be good too.

    Okay, done with my rant…
