E! received a statement from Rachelle Lefevre about being replaced in Eclipse.
Here is what she had to say:
“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules.
“My commitment to Barney’s Version is only 10 days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.
“I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.”
I’m going to miss Rachelle. She was amazing as Victoria.

I’ve gotta say, this was NOT a brilliant move on Summit’s part. As much as I love them, I’m starting to think they’ve gotten a big head from Twilight’s success. Why else would they replace Rachelle, who is the fantastic Victoria we all love to hate, with Bryce Howard…. and over something as easily fixed as a scheduling conflict, for goodness sake! Even though David Slade will be able to handle the action portion of Eclipse very well, I’m still not sure about how he’s going to bring across the peak of the love triangle, an all-important part of the movie. He just seems so set in his ways, more difficult than either Catherine or Chris. If he IS the one to blame here, for being unwilling to add some scheduling flexibility, then shame on him. If not, shame on Summit. How dare you replace our beloved Rachelle? You are SO lucky that you are the geniuses behind the rest of the movie franchise, because if it was anything but Twilight……..

I’m Pissed!!! Replacing her is insane!!! Seeing as to the fact that she is only in the end… its not like she has to be there for all of the filming so work around her schedule! OMG… granted I want the movie out just as quick as the next Twi-Hard but I would much rather it be pushed back a month or so to do it correctly with the correct people than just shove someone in there to get it out on “time”!!!
I’m really sorry to see that this happened to Rachelle. I think that summit has lost sight of who is really driving the craze behind theses films…the fans. I’m glad to see that it’s just summit who is name crazy not the fans. I hope that summit figures this out before they mess anything else up and lose support from the people that matter — the fans.
It is such a shame. Rachelle was such a good at her role as Victoria. And it should have been her biggest scene in Eclipse. It’s such a bad move from Summit… Shame on them. They just wanna make money and don’t care about people!!!!

I think this is all placed on Summit and as much as it sucks it was recast, I don’t think the new actress should be blamed. It wasn’t her fault and we need her to do a good job. (she is a good actress).
I can’t believe that Summint replaced Rachelle! She played a great Victoria! I just re-read Eclipse and was looking forward to her and Robert Pattinson going at it.—- Rachelle has so much class. Although, she’s hurt by being replaced, she’s still thankful to Summit for the opportunity. Kudos to you! I’ll miss you in Eclipse! Good Luck Rachelle!

?I am very disappointed to learn that Rachelle Lefevre, who has brought to life the nomad vampire, Victoria, is no longer going to portray this character in the third installment of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. I don’t under stand how Summit can just replace her so quickly without her knowledge? She is the only Victoria we Twilight fans have ever known. We have put a face to the character that Stephine Meyer has so brilliantly written. When we read the books, we see Rachelle running through the forest dancing on the treaty line. It deeply saddens me, a very loyal fan of Ms. Lefevre and the upcoming movies as well, that she will not return. We, the fans, have been looking froward to seeing Rachelle in Eclipse without a second thought.
I understand that you have found another actress who can step i, however, Bryce Dallas Howard could never fill Rachelle Lefevre’s shoes. If Bryce was the original Victoria, we would be rallying to have Ms. Howard stay but, she isn’t the original and we all want Rachelle to finish what was started. Rachelle has done such an amazing job bringing Victoria to life! The only resemblance that Bryce has with Rachelle is the red hair. Your company has let down so many fans by this outrages news. I’m sure Summit could fix the “scheduling conflicts”. What is ten days to wait for her? Is there really not a way to shoot her ONE scene before or after her 10 day conflict? It has to be on that exact date or nothing? Really? I find that to be extremely ridiculous! You should use those 10 days to get some acting lessons for Kristin Stewart instead. Your company has accommodated other actors, why not Rachelle? Is it because she’s just a supporting character? She’s much more to the fans than that. We have waited a year to see New Moon, I’m sure Summit could wait ten days to get Rachelle. In Twilight, Cam’s scenes were filmed first because he had another movie. What’s the difference? Seriously. This is so out-of-hand! What a mess!

This phenomenal project has been given to Summit, and we entrusted that it would be brought to life – so far it has. But now, someone is getting a really big head, greedy and a little too comfortable – we Twilight fans got slapped in the face last night with the news of Summit replacing Rachelle. (Its because of the fans that Summit is still around and you have jobs. It matters to us who’s portraying our beloved characters…. even the one’s we LOVE to hate).
Rachelle has sent out a statement explaining to her fans what is going on. Rachelle has given up so many roles so that she could be able to film on New Moon and Eclipse, comply with HER contract and most importantly, to keep her loyal fans happy. It would be preposterous for Summit to say otherwise! It would be a horrible business decision on Rachelle’s part to skip out on a movie that put her on the map just because of a few days working on another movie. I am greatly disappointed to hear this very horrible news; as are the rest of the Twilight fans. I can’t help to think that if Stephanie Meyer was notified of this decision, she was provided false information and the blame to be Ms. Lefeve’s. What a shame. I hope that Summit truly reconsiders their decision so that we could see Rachelle portray OUR Victoria. This film is where Rachelle belongs and we hope you will fix the scheduling conflicts. From what I’ve read, Summit has broken their contract with Rachelle. I’m sure its not a big deal to break it with Ms. Howard. However, I can’t help to think that Ms. Howard was so abruptly re-cast because of her background. What a shame. We don’t care who her father is. We love Rachelle!

We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.
* Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.
* If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.
* It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.
* Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.
* Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.
The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE

Very, very disappointed in Summit. The only reason Rachelle was replaced was because Summit is trying to get some BIG names in the film and guess what, its not what the fans want. Giving these actors and actresses their time in the spotlight to play the characters we have come to know and love is their opportunity and no one should take it away from them. I think we all need to band together and present a united front to keep Rachelle and any other cast member who has made the movie PHENOMENAL. Changing the cast now is suicide and I hope that there will be a huge outpouring from fans to help Rachelle come back as Victoria. I like Byrce Dallas, but no one could play Victoria better than Rochelle. Come on People!!!

Seriously, is there any other role in a movie that is more important that playing Victoria in Eclipse? It is one of the most important battles in the entire Twilight Saga; the vampire that has stalked and created stradegies to kill Bella Swan is finally destroyed by the invincible Edward Cullen, with the help of Seth Clearwater and Rachelle can’t play it?!
Forget the Barnes 10 day crap job and play Victoria!!!! Simple at that.
My gut feeling is that this was not done on the up and up. To have Rachelle represent the franchise as extensively as she has done with such avenues as ComicCon and all the Twi-Cons and then to replace her just days after ComicCon is wrong in every sense of the word. She has been such a dedicated professional and has promoted this even more than the two main stars. The only recourse we have as fans is to let Summit Entertainment and David Slade know exactly what we think of this recast. We must do it in a professional manner without bashing Bryce or anyone else. We can make sure we are heard, after all, if not for us fans, there would not be any success with this franchise.

This is crap! How the heck can they just right out replace her. Rahcelle IS Victoria. NO ONE can replace her. I swear if they don’t bring her back over a 10 day conflict, when it’s going to take 3-4 months to film Eclipse. I don’t see how it will be worth watching if she is not in it. Rachelle plays the role of Victoria so well and she has always given it everything she’s go. She loves this series and has been nothing but devoted to this project. I urge all of you to write to Summitt Entertainment and demand that they bring our Rachelle back.

66 here’s my pint: Summit was basically attacking her in their statement….lok at it there’s nothign respectful about it. i am saddened by their decision and im not attacking Byrce at all…..im saying that shes not victoria…shees not what i pictured and Summits gonna lose a lot of money on this and it may affect the production of Breaking Dawn…..so i have to give Byrce a chance but i guarantee you im not going to like Eclipse very well if they just edit in someone quickly who we dont even know and thats goin to read the script within a couple of days and be back to act so soon..but i also think well Rachelle you shouldnt have signed on for that indie film which not even half the amount of people who watched twilight will watch it…..and now a lot of the twilight fans are devastated (i am one). Rachelle was truly how i pictured Victoria andi dislike summit for this after they tried to fire Taylor and now this……..regardless i am still going to watch the movie for the love and support of the other actors….i want to know how the cast feels about this and i just sub,itted to be an extra on eclipse and now i dont know if i want to follow through on……i dont think that they should gave up the third/fourth most major role for a stupid ten days and she said that they can go around their scheduling days (indie film people) so that she can do eclipse but nooo Summit fires her for what they knew since April…so they kick out an amazing actress that was finally going to be in the movie where her time onscreen was actually going to be more than 10 minutes total….so i am disappointed and i hope that they reconsider this decision or we just may have lot our beloved twilight franchise….:-(

Well, this is one person’s $11 they’re not getting. Bad behavior should NEVER be rewarded and there are enough movies out there by companies that honor their contracts that I don’t need to waste my money on these crappy people.
