MTV has a interview with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. In the interview they talk about their characters relationship in New Moon.

MTV: Kristen, in your opinion, how is the relationship between Bella and Jacob in “New Moon” different than the one between Edward and Bella in “Twilight”?
Kristen Stewart: It’s such a different relationship; it’s like entirely original.
MTV: It seems much more playful.
Stewart: Yeah, exactly. They’re light; they actually have fun with each other. Edward and Bella are always so strange, you know?
Taylor Lautner: It’s always so tense.
Stewart: And only he can bring her out of that rut. Like, she literally is going to die; she’s going to stop eating and be done. And the only thing that brings her out of it is this lightness [Jacob] brings.

Although I know Bella and Edward belong together, you can’t help but root for Jacob. Her relationship with him is the healthier of the two. That’s the type of relationship I would want for me and the people I love. That intense stuff only looks good in books.
i agree with foxxx. its just something about edward and bella’s relationship that just makes them belong together. i just don’t know. does anyone else feel the way i feel about that???

OMG! I’m totally with you FOXXX! Bella and Jacob’s relationship is much healthier! Stephenie Meyer even said that Jacob is the one Bella should be with, he’s what is best for her. Again FOXXX makes a good point, I would also want Jacob and Bella’s relationship for me and the people I love. That’s one of the reasons I’m on Team Jacob ^_^ Jacob
Also I don’t like drama. I’ve had several friendships with a lot of drama and it just drained the life out of me. It was what inevitably pushed me away from them. I couldn’t stand it anymore. My old friends, made everything more intense and more heightened than it needed to be, flipping out over nothing, blowing things out of proportion. I was walking on “egg shells” everyday because the littlest things would set them off on these dramatic tantrums. Like FOXXX said, that intense drama stuff only looks good in books. When its happening in real life, and its your life, everyday, you go nuts!
Stephenie Meyer said on her site, that Bella’s tragic flaw is “lack of self-knowledge”, Edward’s tragic flaw is “overreaction”, however Jacob, she said doesn’t have a tragic flaw. But now I’m wondering if that IS Jacob’s tragic flaw- that he doesn’t have one! He’s TOO perfect! When someone is too perfect, someone who doesn’t have any flaws, is it harder for us to relate and accept that person, when we have our own flaws? When I build someone up as being perfect, it makes me insecure because I have a lot of flaws and I’m always left wondering if they’ll accept my flaws. We all carry baggage, even though you can’t always see it.
actually. i see ur guys point. jake is healthier, but then again, her and edward r like two puzzle peices, they belong together. but the drama also makes FABULOUS books! woo. go Mrs. Stephenie Myer! u rock and are the best writer of all times! (my opinion. but im surd other tru twihearts agree with me.)

They probably wont kiss, the phone will probably stop them like in the book. I’m Team Jacob too [[bc I want him lol]] and I think Jake is a much better choice bc her relationship with Edward isnt healthy. BUT if she was with Jake, she wouldnt be able to give 100% and it wouldnt be fair to Jacob.
& Yeah that kind of love that Edward and Bella have [[which I think is mostly obsession, no offense to Bella & Edward lovers ]] is only good in books like FOXXX put.
i agree with foxx cuz i really do want bella n jacob ogether n ofcourse im team jaob. And i think if the story were just regular people without shape-shifters n vampires she would be pefect with jacob but ofcourse without them the books woudnt have any action n tat much piont but o well shes good with edward any ways.
kaylacullen, exactly, they are completely meant to be, no matter how much more “healthy” her relationship is with jacob, there are just spots that he cant fill, she loves edward, unconditionaly, and she cant stand to live without him.
i dont like how kristen Always describes edward and bella’s relationship as so tense, its not like the whole time they are just rigid,edward DOES have to be carful with not hurting her, but they do have fun and laugh too, and most importantly they love each other

Thanks Beautiful People for seeing my POV. I think jt can read minds b/c she sure read mine! But Ms. Taycob also had a good point. If she wasn’t with Edward (in the book) we would probably not love it as much because there would be no drama. We may not want to live in the drama but I know I like to look at someone else’s (in movies & books anyway)
I love Jake I think he is the great guy ever (Team Jacob all the way). But I think Bella and Edward do belong together I mean He wait for that love 100 years and Jacob will never be 100% happy whit her because she wasn’t her soul mate Renessmee is. So whit her he is going to be better because they belong together (Him and Renessmee) Just like Edward and Bella…
He just suffer o little bit much for his true love

did i miss something in my reading of all 4 books and just what is the main storyline?
ms stewart speaks as though the total, main theme and storyline is bella’s relationship with jacob because she wants to have fun? i suggest she should have picked a comedic role vs. an intense, dramatic role as is written in the books for this character. she continually degrades her own character. she mocks the very heart of this story.
i wish they had chosen another actress that had respect for the character.

To Emma-in all fairness I don’t think KS is degrading Bella, I think she is recognizing her flaws, heartache & the (not so great) way she deals with them. She’s strong for her parents but depends on someone else (a guy/good guy but still a guy) to be strong for her. Remember, these books/movies main target audience are young females (a lot who say “I wanns be like Bella). She loves hard & strong but do you honestly want your teen sister or daughter to be like her?

actually, i am considering several things.
1st, ms. meyer may have thought her entire audience would be the 12-17 age group of females. but i think you will concede, the interest has gone far beyond that one group. i estimate the range to be 12/13 to over 50!
2nd, ms. stewart has eluded to her disgust in the character bella before. she seems to want this character to be of her own making, which it is not. i believe if she wanted the part and therefore accepted the part, she should respect the character as it is written.
3rd, quite a few movies and books present a challenging task for parents, not just this one. even though it would probably be near to impossible for anyone at this point in time not to know about these books and the storyline, and therefore be commenting about it, parents have a daunting task in being able to teach and then remind their children about fictional vs. non-fictional.
at this point in time, i am remarking about an individual’s ability and concern about not only the theatrical responsibilities, not to mention the financial, that these projects carry, but her personal responsibility toward the project, her castmates, the production company and the audience at large.
i do believe that ms stewart could find a way to express the differences without degrading the main storyline and in keeping with the vast range in the ages of the audience. if she cannot, then i don’t think she should give interviews.
To Emma-you may be right about the not giving interviews part. I have read some of her interviews but I have seen only one & it was not her strongest moment in regards to her feelings for character I must say. It is true that it is parents resposibility to teach their children fact from fiction but if you live on the same planet I do you know its just not as easy as it sounds. I just read this one & it didn’t seem overly negative (to me). These people became Rock Stars overnite. Let’s just give them a break. Emma-have a great day.

i hope that chris weitz read all of the books so he knows that thhey aren’t supposed to kiss until eclipse. if they do kiss then that totally destroys big parts in eclipse. that phone better ring.
i agree with foxx too. i get really annoyed with Bella. it doesn’t make sense, why choose someone who makes you depressed over someone who fills you with joy like Jacob??? dont get me wrong i can see Eddie’s appeal too but come on jake is just too hot to pass up! lol! i really can’t wait the movie comes out, im so happy that Australia is one of the first places to see it!!! (even if only by a day or two). This picture looks like an almost kiss to me and although im team jacob all the way i actually dont want them to kiss in new moon, one coz it doesnt happen in the book and two because the second story is more about exploring their friendship (one of the things that make them a better couple)!
By the way has anyone noticed how Kristen always explains Bella’s point of view like no has read the books, is she stupid or just stupid??? i heard she didnt even bother reading the books before shooting twilight, and whats with the stuttering and eyebrow movements its just plan hilarious!(wow that came out sorta mean but seriously its funny coz its true!)

okay the book only says they kiss in eclipse and bella punches jacob over it and bella and edward are so meant to be together i mean i dont think jacob and bella should have beeen togethrer in the end that would have tottally ruined the story bella wouldnt have become a vamp or anything exciting edward and bellas relationshipisnt tense at all after she becomes a vampire.
okay edward does not make bella depressed he makes her happy have you people read the books when hes hunting or something shess dpressed the because hes gone and whats with all the couple nonsense between bella and jacob they never become a couple they are on the borderline in new moon and then the phone rings and she go and gets edwward and they get back together and she doesnt talk to jacob for a while after that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay no offense fox but most of the people agreeing with you are team jacob team edward people have different views im team edward adn i disagree with you 100% i agreee with aranah renessmeee and jacob are supposed to be soul mates and bella and edward are soulmates bella and edward are meant to be together and if they were all normal like somebody said she would still probably pick edward because he would be light and casual just like jake i mean i love jacob and all but im am stil team edward by a long way
