Here is an excerpt from the interview:

But, and not just for PR purposes, New Moon was his favorite book. “Mainly because I like the juxtaposition. Edward is such a hyped character, and there are so many people looking at him like a romantic hero. In New Moon, the way that I read it anyway, he’s just so humbled. It’s a character who’s looking at Bella and thinking that he loves something too much, but he can’t be around. He deliberately starts breaking up their relationship, which I think is a very relatable thing that is very painful. And, in the fight sequence at the end, Bella ends up saving Edward, as she does in every single one of the books. It’s really funny how everyone looks at Edward as the hero, and he’s continuously saved by the damsel in distress. I think he really realizes that in New Moon. Eclipse is really him trying to catch up with Jacob because he’s so out of the loop and he can’t speak in superlatives anymore. He’s accepted being alive and he needs to catch up to Jacob.”

Did anything surprise you about filming ‘New Moon’?

“I thought it would be harder to be on set, just because of the buzz and the fact that all these actors started as unknown and became so big – not all of them, but the majority. I thought I would arrive on set and kind of be an outsider and not really fit in. On the contrary, everyone was really nice, really down the Earth. It was a very friendly atmosphere. I was a little stressed out at the beginning, like ‘I’m getting to Vancouver on set, what is it going to be like?’ It was actually a really good surprise.”

Q: Was there anything fun about shooting on the actual theme park?

KS: Yeah, we weren’t allowed to go on the rides until the end, and then they stuck us on the most dangerous rickety wooden old ride that they had at the park. That was the one ride that we got to ride. And we did it like 15 times. It’s especially funny though to see Jesse (Eisenberg) on a ride because his enthusiasm is very restrained. He’s like, ‘Oh yes, that was very fun’ [laughs].

Q: So what’s the worst summer job that you ever had?

KS: I’ve never had one. I’ve done sort of funky movies over summers. And once I didn’t like a production designer, if that counts as a bad job! [laughs]

New Moon Bus

Earlier this week one of our readers, Sylvia, sent in a picture of a New Moon bus she saw in Elk Grove, CA. Another one of our readers Monique sent us some more information on the bus.

The bus is an old school bus owned by The Silvia Family. The mother bought the old bus to drive around her 10 kids and since they needed to repaint it anyways decided to dedicate it to their favorite book series.
