Stephenie Meyer made Vanity Fair’s list of “The New Establishment of 2009″.

Below is what Vanity Fair had to say about Stephenie:

82. Stephenie Meyer

Author
NEW ENTRY.
STAGE OF GLOBAL CONQUEST: The Mormon housewife’s Twilight teen-vampire romance novels sold nearly 29 million copies in one year, capturing the top four positions on the USA Today best-seller list for 2008, making her the first author ever to do so. (J. K. Rowling came close with Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 with her Harry Potter titles in 2000.) The movie version of Twilight grossed $191 million in the U.S., and the film adaptation of her second book, New Moon, opens in November. Meyer has also inspired hundreds of Web sites from fans who call themselves “Stephen-ites” or “Twi-hards.”
MARITAL RELATIONS: Her husband, Christian, quit his job as an auditor to look after their three sons.
DAILY HABITS: Drives fast but doesn’t consume alcohol or caffeine.
LEGEND HAS IT: Meyer, 35, began writing as a 29-year-old Phoenix housewife in 2003 after dreaming of vampires one night. She wrote 10 pages the next morning before driving her sons to swimming lessons. She moved a desk into the living room and finished her 130,000-word first novel in only three months.
THORN IN HER SIDE: Stephen King, who said that “Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn.”
NEW THORN IN HER SIDE: Jordan Scott, who has alleged in a lawsuit filed in August that Meyer stole ideas from her 2006 vampire novel The Nocturne, and used them in Breaking Dawn, which Meyer published in 2008. Meyer’s publisher has said that the claims are meritless.

Stephenie Meyer is such a phenomenal woman! I am thankful the twilight books started with her dream about the “meadow”. There is such a romantic connection in how she writes in the Twilight series of books that touches every female in someway no matter how old. I am now way pass trying to stop myself from reading the Twilight books over and over again.

“The Mormon housewife’s Twilight teen-vampire romance novels” How is Mormon relevant here??? You wouldn’t say The Black Housewife, The Jewish Housewife, for that matter why not just Author, what is wrong with Author?? Or Author, wife and mother?? Does anyone know what JK Rowling’s religious affiliation is or if she even has one? Nor should we its not relevant!! For the record I am not Mormon, I have no political or religious affiliations. The “I don’t get it crowd”, of which SK is among can’t seem to make up their minds on how to pigeon hole this series. Its either a YA series and all of its fans are screaming teenagers (which is BS) or it is some secret code filled with Mormon religious lessons due to the lack of sex! Hello which is it guys if its YA then yeah the lack of sex would be appropriate don’t you think? Or how about GASP it is a really well written series with wide and universal appeal?? Nay, it was just a one off, right…….Oh wait there are 4 books so it was a one off 4 times? And the movies, ummmm how to explain that oh yeah back to the screaming teenagers! And no I am not a screaming Teenager; I am however really feed up with the “I don’t get it” crowd. OK you don’t get, so what, a hell of a lot of us do!!

Stephenie Meyer has done something no other author has been able to do, weave a fascinating (and gripping) love story into a fantasy world. Potter was whimsical and clever, but it lacks the heart of the Twilight books. People like Potter because the world in the books is so peculiar. Twilight functions on a much more emotional level. That’s why it is breaking all of these records!
