I really enjoy these educational videos. Please, put as many of these up as you can. It’s really great to get away from the Team Edward and Team Jacob stuff every once in a while.
Those two ladies did mention that legends of vampires are from Eastern Europe. What they did not mention is one very important thind and that is etymology of the word “vampire”.
This is what you can find on Wikipedia:
“The Oxford English Dictionary dates the first appearance of the word vampire in English from 1734.[...]
The English term was derived (possibly via French vampyre) from the German Vampir, in turn thought to be derived in the early 18th century from the Serbian ??????/vampir. The Serbian form has parallels in virtually all Slavic languages.”
The word “vampire” is the only word from Serbia. Since we are Twilight forum from Serbia, we are, understandable, very proud of this.
Twilight conventions are held all over the world. Twilight actors are guests in many, many countries. But nobody is planing to come to Serbia, country that gave this word to the world! What a pity! What a shame!
Twilight Guide has Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse movie news, Breaking Dawn info, pictures, graphics, icons, wallpapers, quizzes, quotes, polls, contests, and giveaways for Twilight fans.
