Bella’s months-long depression, in the blink of an eye.. (My favorite scene in the movie I was tearing up!!!)
Fans were wondering how Chris Weitz would treat the infamous “lost” months of Bella’s depression, which are depicted by blank pages in the book. After all, October, November, December, and January fly by as voids of nothingness to the girl. Weitz and Rosenberg’s solution? A clever scene where Bella sits listless in front of her window as the camera moves around her to show the changing seasons outside. The trick captures her melancholia and is perfectly punctuated by Lykke Li’s haunting, wistful track, “Possibility.”
More snarky Anna Kendrick!
Besides giving Bella her very first brush with danger, the biker scene serves another purpose: letting Anna Kendrick shine. As Jessica, Kendrick once again steals every scene she’s in, and Bella’s foolish biker episode gives her some of her very best frenemy lines of dialogue. Bonus: Kendrick’s blissfully ignorant snark attack on zombie movies.
Two words: Face Punch!
In addition to the zombie genre, New Moon has a little something to say about stupid action flicks. One of the best additions to the script involves Bella, Mike Newton, Jacob, and a popular (fake) blockbuster movie entitled Face Punch. (Tagline: “Let’s DO this!”)
Carlisle’s Volturi painting comes to life.
Instead of waiting ‘til the end to meet the Volturi, we get an early peek at them when Carlisle’s painting comes to life as Edward explains their history to Bella. Thank goodness! It would be such a waste to have even less of Aro & Co. in New Moon than the brief sequence we already get.
Victoria attacks Harry Clearwater.
While tracking the Wolf Pack – and slyly covering their footprints – Harry Clearwater suffers a fatal heart attack in the woods. But in the film, we see that Harry’s heart attack comes from the shock of being attacked by Victoria, who is seen stalking Charlie’s hunting party from up in the trees. The change here allows plot points to converge, as the ensuing wolf pursuit of Victoria runs parallel to Bella’s fateful cliff-jump into the ocean. And again, it gives Rachelle Lefevre something to do.

This is one of my favorite scenes…” WHAT A MARSHMELLOW!” I loved it, And I like how they changed it from the book so that Jacob was “angry” when mike walked up and was like “i think i should go home” THE FACE HE GIVES MIKE IS PRICELESS OMG IT HAD ME DYING FROM LAUGHTER I LOVED IT…I absolutley think Taylor Lautner was Born for this role…I don’t think anyone coulda done a better job then he did with Jacob Black…TEAM JACOB BABY!

I love the part where alice come to bellas house and bella asks her “youre coming back right?” And alice says”Once you put the ‘dog’ out!” i just loved that part.I couldnt stop laughing cuz i would so say that

Ha! that was a funny scene, but my favorite part is when Paul enters Emily’s house all cute and perky and he looks at Bella and burst out with ‘ Sorry’ The audience burst out with laughter. And isn’t Jacob #1, Paul #2, and Embry #3 on the wolf hotness scale?!?!?!?! ( 1 being the best)

i deffinately agree that no one could have played Jacob better. If Chris Weitz would have cast someone other than Taylor (like origionally planned) i would have cried!

i watched new moon last night!!!! it was awesome!!! and this part was funny! look at jacobs hand a look at mikes hand! thats pretty funnny! and in the movie she just looks at them and rolls her eyes
I saw the movie last night, it was pretty good but I honestly hated the ending. I thought they should have gone a little more about the marriage and things. Anyone agree?
I agree about the marriage thing, they should have had her answer in there but I still lived the ending.
They couldn’t have Bella answer his marriage proposal because it’s not a simply yes or no. There’s much more to it that comes to fruition in Eclipse.
They could because she thought that he was joking and she’s like “Yeah, right”. They could have done that but I still love the ending and I think that some people forget that Edward proposed to Bella in New Moon and she thought it was a joke.
but thats not how the books go so just shut the hell up…
FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME ABOUT THE ENDING!!! I mean every one knows they’re going to get married. And if you didnt like it so badly, go read the books so that you can understand why that ending was so awesome!! Am i Right?

Oh, I don’t know. I liked the ending, specially when Bella sucked in her breath. (Kinda like when someone punches you in the gut & u run out of air) He proposed and that floored her and the reaction portrayed in the film couldn’t have said it better. (She fears Marriage…thanks to Renee’s point of view)
I agree with you on that one i was shocked when they ended it like that but I still loved the movie
yeah, that was a pretty suckish ending but it was still awesome and every knows they’re getting married in the last book. It TOTALLY left the crowd in suspense!!! JUST READ THE BOOKS!!! Am i right? Any one agree…?

MY favorite scenes would have to be between the cliff diving;watching the pack do it;, embry and Jared at Emilys, or the scene with the Volturi. The movie was really good to me but i honestly hated the ending where they just cut off. I went to see it with some of my friends and we all almost cryed at parts, we all jumped when the pack morphed. I had a great time.
I also saw the movie last night. I loved it. I agree when Bella was at the movies with Jake and Mike looked at both their hands. Wow!! I can’t wait for the next one to come out. I just hope they use all the same cast.

2) jessica rumbling on about tha zombie movie (don’t have a quote cuz it’d be 2 long)

4) harry about the wolves: “don’t worry bella, my kung fu is strong”
5) bella and edward at the cullens: “you don’t know what you’re talking about” “shut.. up”

I know that one thing I didn’t like about the movie that didn’t go in New Moon was (SPOILER) when Bella said she loves Jacob… anyone who has read the books knows that that part happens on Eclipse but apart from that the movie was a complete success!!! LOVE IT!!!

I seen the movie friday at the 12:00 show . Aro kinda freaked me out he reminds me of johnny depp on charlie and the chocolate factory. And Marcus he scared me he didn’t even have to say any thing but just sit their and it still would have scared me but I think they should have kept the original sam and embry from twilight and got a different Quil because he looks nerdish. and Jacob don’t get me started on him he was the best. PArt that had me laughing the hardest was at the movies when jake and bella are sitting on the stairs and mike comes out talkin i think i need to go home, Jake looks at him like hes gonna rip his face off, THAT WAS HALARIOUS i was dying!!! It was so funny

I died laughing in the scene when Jacob is driving Bella home after her cliff diving incident and she’s shivering so Jacob, being the smooth ladies man he is.. pulls out the “You know, its 108 degrees over here.” Oh man it was hilarious!

Here’s what I think:
IMO the Volturi outshined the Cullens, Bella, and the wolfpack (minus Jake). OMG the Volturi were so AMAZING!! They are all such talented actors! Dakota Fanning and Michael Sheen blew me away!!
I think Edward looked gross for most of the movie.
Kristin’s acting was amateur (no surprise there). I also think the wolfpack could’ve used some acting lessons! oh yeah which reminds me, how come when Bella punched Paul nothing happened to her? In the book when she punches Jake she breaks her hand but when she punched Paul she was fine! wth?!
The vision Alice had was sooo freaking cheesy I laughed so hard!!
Jacob omg yummy!! I wanted to reach out my hand and touch his chest and lick it. Delicious!! I think he did a good job! Can’t wait for the sleeping bag scene.
Overall New Moon was ok. IMO.
Now eveyone is gonna be hating on me..oh well.
exactly the same thought i had about punching paul…. but then my excuse.is that jacob is a pure blood.. and is suppose to be the Alpha Male… his physique .. aka his body… is much stronger than pauls.. and thats just my suggestion as to why she didnt brake her hand… and i too cant wait for the sleeping bag scene.. i loved it in the book…

I agree that Michael Sheen’s performance was great.
I don’t think Edward looked bad. He looked sad and that made me like him even more. In Italy he looks so distraught! When Bella saves himin Italy and they kiss! Aahh! Although I thought CW could have drawn out the scene just a little bit. It was like 30 seconds long. I love that scene in the book!
AndI am in the minority, but the vision scene wasn’t so bad. It was very old fashioned and Bella looked HAPPY.
TL did a great job and I really felt bad for him, he loves Bella so much…
And the ending was fine.
I was disappointed in the musical score.Of course I have only seen it once. In constrast though the score in Twilight really made the movie.
I’m one of the few girls who don’t find Edward/Rob attractive maybe that’s why I thought he looked gross. I have to agree with you on the score. The score didn’t seem to flow well with what was going on screen.
i dont think people would hate u for just having an opinion. otherwise half the world would hate me. and i agree with most of that:
kristin is amateur, alice is incredibly cheesy, edward looked demented most of the time, and taylor is HOT. but… um i wouldn’t exactly want to touch him… weird.

In eclipse when she punch Jacob she use all of her force I dont think she did that in New Moon. I think it was more of a slap then a punch too
Loved the entire movie. Chris Weitz could not have done a better job bringing that book to life in a two hour movie. What captivated me the most, besides the obvious scenes and lines, was the development of the characters. Eveyone seems just more mature in this one. The filming and the acting was just of a better quality. Given the small budget of Twilight, which I watch on a loop daily just to hear my characters, New Moon was such a quality film in every aspect. From the special effects, makeup (love those golden eyes), to the picture quality, this film was such a wonderful improvement over Twilight. I’ve seen it three times this weekend, Midnight Showing, yesterday at 3:00, and today, Sunday at 9:00 am. Each time you are able to absorb more. Thank you cast and crew of New Moon, you know how to deliver.
Yes, I want to see it again – because it went by so fast! But I can’t take my 2 year old to see it with me.. So I have to wait until my husband is home to watch her.
I can’t wait until it comes out on DVD. The Blu Ray is going to look awesome.

of course the story was great but i just missed the part where they go to the volturi being the highlight of the movie, like i felt it was in the book. I was really surprised by taylor’s acting skills, i think he’s done so much for this movie and i appreciate that. Also michael as aro was great, but did anyone else find it annoying that his face was so white it looked kinda fake? I love the cgi, the wolves are fantastic! I also like the new lenses for the vampire eyes, they’re much clearer than in twilight. Overall i think new moon deserves a good 7,5 to 8 out of ten, anyone agree?
I agree, I like New Moon, don’t get me wrong, but I think Twilight was more my style.
I liked New Moon but there was something missing. I read a fan review somewhere and she said that the chemistry was off in this movie. I tend to agree.
My friend who saw it with me thought that the movie felt rushed and I think so, too.
The extra scenes with Victoria were good – killing Laurent was great.
i gotta say that new moon was amazing and anyone that didn’t like it is insane! the ending is amazing… it just leaves you hanging and makes you feel like you just HAVE to see eclips. but i didn’t like how bella told jake that she love’d him… to eclipse’sy

New Moon was really cool but i think they should have used the same director for both movies as some of the things were a bit different eg. the vampires contact lenses and Mike Newtons look.

The only things I disagree with are when Bella gets on the motorcycle, I didn’t like that part.
And in the end of New Moon Edward does propose to Bella. If you don’t believe me go read the last few chapters of New Moon, but I think it is in the part of the book. I swear it is in there I have read the book 6 times.

I read the critics review on ‘New Moon’ and I was shocked. Apparently, New Moon not only lacked romance (the sexual tension was definitely there!) but it also lacked action (explain!). Apparently, it was worse than ‘Twilight’!
I really don’t know what they’re on about!
The casting, the special effects, the humour were all awesome. Taylor portrayed Jacob only too well, he was sweet, fun and a good friend to Bella. Bella on the other hand, needed a good punch. She annoyed me in the books, what with all the playing on Jacob’s feelings. And what nerve, telling Jacob “I love you… But it was always him (Edward)” in front of Edward whilst being only a few centimetres from Jacob’s face. Poor Jacob!
I have a question. During the scene when Jacob interrupts Alice & Bella’s reunion, and they are in the kitchen just before the almost/practically kiss between , and right before Edward calls, Jacob says one quick word, maybe in a different language?… what phrase did he say?? I’ve seen the movie twice but still have no idea!!

i loved the movie. I think the book was depicted very well and yet it kept you hanging the whole time. You did not want to take your eyes off of it because you may liss something. and where I am so totally TEAM EDWARD…the werewolves topless was soo mouthwatering…..lol!!! never in my life have I ever wanted a movie to go against the book. I absolutely loved Jacob.
My favorite scenes are.. all the ones with Taylor Lautner in them.
I still can’t stand the fact that Bella punches Paul. And you’re supposed to find out about Alice’s past (at least what she knows). I also almost cried during the ending when Bella’s all “Don’t make me choose, because it’s him its always been him.”
Oh and has anyone noticed that Edward looks like someone hit him in the face with a shovel.. or a frying pan..

All I have to say is that I’m glad Melissa Rosenberg added a TON of humor to the movie! It really made the movie run a lot faster than dealing with Bella’s depression for 3/4 of the story! I think they did a wonderful job. It left me panting for ECLIPSE!
OMG this movie was much much better than the first one! i was laughing soo hard when jake bella and mike were at the movies! i can’t believe the ending tho! i want to see what she does for that!!!! and the wolves were AMASING!! i loved the computerization for them!!! Great job u guys at summit!!
My favorite part was when Bella ran across the square to save Edward. I so held my breath and when they met they were both super cute. But it ruined when they had “the conversation” when they were supposed to have it after Bella woke up. Also I think there should’ve been the “Wooooooo!” and the “oow!”s when Bella left Jacobs garage and Embry just screams.. That was so funny in the book. Other than those I think it was fantastic. Such cuteness aaand it made the Team Edward people feel for Jacob. Still Team Edward tho.

Team jacob… The movie was so good can’t wait to see it again….it was funny wow they did a good job i love it.
I absolutely loved the movie!! I am totally Team Jacob and I loved the way he shows how much he cared for Bella. I think the books are alot more intense but of course they couldn’t put it all in the movie. Jacob is a sweetheart and deserves a better happy ending than what he gets in the end of Breaking Dawn!!

it was when they were at the cullen’s house and they were debating bella’s mortality. and i completely agree with the vision of edward and bella in the forest!!! so funny, i was cracking up for two days afterward!!!

I think the one reason whyI liked New Moon more than Twilight is because it was funny and a lot less tense. I loved the part where Alice jumps over the railing in school and Jasper’s like “Happy… uh nevermind.” Haha Also the wolves are hilarious! “Ohhh you’ve done it now!” and “Well I guess the wolf’s out of the bag now.” Hahaha I was either laughing or crying during that movie. And don’t even get me started on the movie scene! When Mike tells Jake that he needs to go home and Jake just looked at him!!! Hahaha Tay is such a good actor. “So you’re dating an older woman. Hot.” “I vote yes. It will be a relief to not want to try and kill you all the time.” And Edward going you can’t trust vampires. Trust me. So many good pick up lines in that movie!
omg!!! I absoulty loved the movie! Jacob is do freak hott. although i think they had to much of edward in the movie. no offense to the vampires but im more of a warewolf girl……i love you jacob:)

and new moon was amazing, Chris did a great job. cept there was NOTHING about imprinting. which is damn important.
but overall i have no other complaints.

5)when bella and jacob were havin that serious moment at the stairs of the movie theater….”well u do think im kinda beautiful” lol priceless

oh yea and i was on the edge of my seat when jacob gave bella that little peck! i was like do it already, hurry up b4 someone interrupts and of course it was interrupted!!!!
overall loved the movie, the books, and cant wait to c it again and for the others to come out!!!
