Lea’s Late Night Book Review – The House of Night Book Series

So I have read like a ton of books lately, got a lot for Christmas, so I thought I would share my thoughts on what I’ve been reading lately with you. I know a ton of you read a lot, I’ve got some of the books I’ve read according to comments you guys leave and wanna say thanks for that!!!
So here are my thoughts on The House of Night book series by P.C. Cast.

Synopsis:
Welcome to the House of Night. This is a school for marked humans, Fledglings, to learn how to become vampires. O.k getting ahead of myself here. You see Vampires exist and everyone in the world knows. When you are a teenager and are marked you will leave your regular life and join The House of Night. When you are marked a crescent moon appears on your forehead. Not everyone who is marked becomes a vampire though some reject the change and die.
The books revolve around newly marked Zoey Redbird and her friends. Zoey is special. She has been personally marked by the Vampire Goddess Nyx and also has intricate tattoos most don’t receive until they become full fledged vampires. She is also very powerful.
In the books you learn all about the lives of the marked and vampires. Zoey’s friends are also special. Many possessing a powerful affinity for one of the elements fire, earth, air and water. Vampire powers are cool right.
Throughout the book series, 6 in total, you see the lives of Zoey and her friends evolve. Friendship, love and danger surround them at all times. Plus being a teenager is hard enough as it is!!! Throughout the series enemies become friends, friends become enemies and when you are the most powerful fledgling the world has ever know your life will never be the same!!!

So got these books because I kept reading about them in the comments so I decided to check them out.
I Loved Them!!!!
Couldn’t put them down I was reading like one a day!!
The characters are so enjoyable, likable and easy to relate to. I love the whole vampire mythology in the series, the Goddess Nyx is pretty awesome!!! The relationship between the characters is great. Characters I hated at the beginning of the series became my favorite by the end and vice versa. Zoey is extremely cool and I ache for the pain she goes through sometimes, I won’t lie a teared up quite a few time through the series. I don’t want to say too much for those who haven’t read the series yet, but I will tell you I was completely devastated at the end of Tempted, just in shock!!!!
I really recommend these books for vampire lovers. I really enjoyed them and think you will too!!!

I found a book called Evermore which seems good, similar to Twilght and True blood novels cant wait to read it, you should try it out Leandra!
You should read Evermore! It is a really good book. There is a second and third one, too but i haven’t gotten to those yet.

I love the sookie Books. I havent read the latest one yet but i plan on rereading them soon. I love True Blood the show too, but they really stray alot from the books so it’s really entertaining to both read the books and watch the show.
That’s the same reason I love the Vampire diaries show and books

I have read the first two evermore books they are good. I am reading the dark hunter series by sharrelyn kennyon they are more adult books but they are really great they are tied for first in my top ten faves. there are like 15 books in the series or something.

I havent read these but i just finished reading a series by L.J Smith, the writer for Vampire Diaries. and they are great. It involves Vampires, Wolves, Shapeshifters and Witches. The Night World has only 2 laws, 1)Never let humans find out that the Night World exsists and 2) Never fall in love with a human. They are stories about what happens when the rules get broken.

I’m reading this series now. I’m on hunted. Very good books very hard to put down i feel like I’m reading them to fast seems like i just started and already on the 5th book. i love hearing people that recommend books because I’m wondering what I’m going to read next. So please recommend books!

Those are such good books!!!!! I still can’t decide whether I like Twilight or House of Night better………They’re both sooo good! If y’all haven’t read them, you really should.
JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THERE IS ANOTHER BOOK COMING OUT THIS YEAR IN THE HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES…SUPPOSE TO BE BE AROUND APRIL 27. I HAVE READ ALL OF THEM AND HAVE ALSO READ ALL OF THE IMMORTALS SERIES BY ALYSON NOEL. THERE IS SUPPOSE TO BE 6 BOOKS IN TOTAL IN THIS SERIES. BOOK 4 IS SUPPOSE TO BE OUT SPRING/SUMMER 2010. THE NIGHT WORLD SERIES IS ALSO GOOD, BUT LONG LIKE TWILIGHT. IT ALSO HAS ANOTHER BOOK COMING OUT THIS YEAR…SUPPOSE TO BE AROUND APRIL 6.

Another series I’m hooked on is BLUE BLOODS series by Melissa de La Cruz! She has many other books but her Blue Blood series that’s about Vampires is really good I’m on her fourth book…. The books just get better and better! It’s kind of confusing in the first chapters of the first book (Blue Bloods) but you’ll understand it after a while!
L.J smith’s series Night World is really geed too. oh i also bawled like 3 times reading the H.O.N. series. the immortals series has 3 books with a 4th coming out 1) Evermore, 2) Blue Moon, 3) Shadowland. I’m about to start the Vampire Academy series, then there is another really good series i finished in 3 days called the Mortal Instruments.
My favorite books are The Vampire Diaries and of cousre The Twilight Saga.
Haha my mom says that i should stop reading about vampires and read something “educational” like thats going to happen.
These books are amazin, i bought them ages ago, they are realli good and i think people who like The Twilight Saga will like The House Of Night Series : )
oh, i just finished reading Tempted. it was soooo sad at the end, im wondering whats gonna happen in Burned…you can never tell.
HEAVENS 2 BETSY!! SO SAD? U GUYS R SCARING ME! I JUST STARTED TEMPTED YESTERDAY! WHAT HAPPENED? NO, DON’T TELL ME! I hear there’s gonna be 9 books total & a movie. Any thoughts on the cast? Please don’t say Megan Fox for Zoe. Nothing against her just please no. When they describe Heath, didn’t Kellan Lutz go thru your head! I just love these & they’re not cranking them out fast enough. I was forced 2 buy the last 2 in hard cover because I couldn’t wait until whenever the paperbacks are being released. I’m going to go thru withrawal symptoms if the next book isn’t available when I’m finished w/Tempted. BTW – thanks 2 everyone who made suggestions
I’ve read ALL of the Books and they are sooooooo good. not better then twilight but they are my second favorite series
I recommend the Immortals Series by Alyson Noel, Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead, Blue Bloods Series by Melissa de la Cruz, and of course the House of Night Series by P.C. Cast. All great books to read.

I have read the house of night series and loved it I’m on the Vampire Diaries series right now Which is really good. Another awesome book series is The Black Dagger Brotherhood series By J.R Ward there are 7 book’s right now and the 8th one is coming out the 27th of april
I love HON!! I was also shocked when I read the end of Tempted but I can’t wait for Burned & the other books in the series.

I have read the serise all most twice and i love them they are amazing i was reading two in a day and missing out on sleep for them. They capture your imagination and draw you in, I can’t wait for Burned to come out

OMG i love this books! can i couldn’t put them down too! I’m waiting for the next one… i like the books the vampire academy by Richelle Mead i loooove that serie! and of course the immortal series as well known as “Evermore” by Alyson Noel. Yesterday i just finish reading the 3rd one “Shadowland” and i can’t wait for the next one either!! i like the immortal instruments too “the city of bones” by Cassandra Clare looove that series too!! “The Vampire Diaries” by L.J.Smith are awesome books too! even though in the tv series i looove damon! lol i like “Dark Visions” by L.J.Smith and “Night World” by L.J.Smith! I can’t believe she is finally getting the last book for the series over the summer!! and recently i finish reading “Feather” by Abra Ebner but in my library they don’t have the 2nd and 3rd book so i will have to request those ones… for now those are all the good books i have read but i’m still reading. I have like 10 more books to read… let me know if someone likes all these books too

Shadowland is out since like November or something from last year.. so you will have to search for it because it was an amazing book!!!

the end of Tempted made me sooooo mad though because we have 2 wait until spring 2 get the next book Burned!

After reading the Twilight Series, I started reading the House Of Night and couldn’t put it down, I’ve been trying to find books along the vampire lines and I’ve found the book Thirst by Christopher Pike was good, the second one just came out. The Blue Bloods and Vampire Academy were also some of my favorites, Vampire Diaries, Night World, And the Immortal Series is what I’ve read so far.
OMG i have read all of those books! except for “The Blue Bloods” but i have them and i have to request “Thirst” on my library

i have read heaps these holidays to i would recommend for you to read the vampire academy series they are so great you just get so into it that u wont be able to put them down lol..and also Thirst by Christopher pike that is a fantastic book.
also another great book is the fever series by Karen Marie Moning they are not about vampires but if u love the super natural stuff this is your type of book love em:)
I am on the 5th book of the sereis. and i have to say i cant put these books down. They are absolutly AMAZING!! they r completely different from twilight and i love it.

I have read them as well. They are great. Book 7 Burned comes to stores in April of 2010.
I got them for christmas even though I never heard of them before. I just love them, they’re so different from every other vampire books I’ve read before (and yes there’s been a few…) and the story is just so easy to follow that it is really enjoyable to read.
REALLY GGOOD!!!! I would say for older kids and adults. but they are sooo good!
I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally wanna read The House of Night. I recently read Evermore (The Immortals).
Another good lot of books are the Vampire Academy series, Vampire Beach and The Mortal Instruments books.
I recommend the; House of Night series,The Morganville Vampire series, Vampire Academy series, The Immortals series, Thirst, Evernight series, Vampire Diaries,and The Maximum Ride series, there’s a lot more but I can’t think of anymore, lol!
Oh and I was really shocked at what happened at the end of tempted too!! I just sat there with my mouth hanging down to the floor,lol!

OMG I was bummed when tempted ended the next one to come out is called burned!
I LOVE these books!! They’re just as good as Twilight!!! I just finished Tempted and can’t WAIT for Burned!!! I reccommend them for people 13 and over; there’s some…er…adult content in them.
Yeah you should be at least 13, which is when I started reading them, but of course it depends.
i recommend vampire acadamey series by richelle mead (can’t wait 2 see what happen between rose and dimitri), night world series by lj smith (fav. couple rashel and quinn), evernight series by claudia gray, and vampire kisses series by ellen scheiber

Everyone should read Wings by Aprilynn Pike. I saw where Stephanie Meyer recommended it, so I didn’t think twice and I bought it. It is about Faeries instead of vampires but it was good.

Has anyone tried the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare? It’s a pretty awesome book series, compared to the others that everyone has listed (and has been read on this end)!
There are 3 books: City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass.. LOVED THEM!

I wouldnt reccomend this series of books if your only the Twilight Vampire AKA sexy beast that sparkles fans. But if your a fan of all mythical creatures including vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and any other paranormal creatures I recomend the “Dead Is” series by: Marlene Perez, i enjoyed them and theyre best for girls becuase they have that little sassy style to them. The series consists of:
Dead is the New Black
Dead is a State of Mind
Dead is so Last year
Theyre not very long, and i recommend them for ages 10-14 if your an extreme reader you may get bored at times (Even i’ll admit i got bored atleast once) but im not lying when i say there is LITERALLY a new mystery every 10 pages!

I am reading right now Vampire academy. Has anyone read this series? I just seem to get into them, does anyone know if it gets any better? Besides the sookie steakhouse books is there any mother good adult vampire books?

i read them! Vampire academy are way good! and is keeps getting better so don’t stop reading! and if you see my post on the top i recomend some vampire books and stuff that are pretty good!
The House of Night series, Night World series and The Immortal Series(Evermore,etc.) are all wonderful! I would suggest the House of Night series first though because I think they were one of the best series I’ve read. It does contain some adult content though at times so just beware.
I also love the Mortal Instrument Series, by Cassandra Clare. Not only is there going to be a fourth book to continue the series, but there are also 3 books that are coming out that bring you to the beginning of the series. I also love the author Maggie Steifvater. She has two books, Lament and Ballad in one series (books about faerie, but excellent) and Shiver which has a follow-up book Linger coming out in the summer. Her books are first person, but some of the chapters switch between the characters, which I love, because you get two different points of view. Also enjoyed Some Girls Bite and Friday Night Bites by chloe Neill. This also has a third book that comes out in July. I look forward to the House of Night Series, it sounds great.

OMG i just start reading shiver last night! and so far i’m on page 120 i think and i couldn’t put it down! so i went to bed like at 4:30 a.m
hey everyone! does someone know if those books have sex scenes, because i want them but my mom always say “NO!!! YOU WONT EVER HAVE THOSE BOOKS UNTIL I KNOW THEY ARE RIGHT FOR YOUR AGE” i mean, she totally freak out when i say i want a book.

Well the house of night series have some sex part on it.. ummm..but most of this books are about romance and stuff like that so some of them said they have sex but others said they just kiss and stuff like that so i don’t know what you can say to your mom..plus it depend on how old you are too.. but my mom doesn’t care what i read plus she doesn’t like reading so i don’t have that problem but if you tell me a book you wanna read i will tell you if i have read it and if they have a part where they have sex
i love ‘the secret circle’ books by L.J Smith. ‘generation dead’ and ‘kiss of life’ by Dan Waters are good books too. oh and ‘maximum ride’ series by james patterson wich will be made into a movie this year
Thank you Leandra. I read your post the other day and I was curious. I bought the first book Marked, and it is quite good. I am up to chapter 17 so far. I usually can only read Twilight books, otherwise they just bore me but I can actually read these. Are there any others you reccomend?

I absolutely love the House of Night books. I can’t wait till the next one. There is a total of like 13 that will be issued and in the works a movie to Marked. I am reading the Vampire Diaries right now. Awesome! I can’t get out of the vampire books. I did read The Host by Stephanie Meyer and it was really good too. Thats all. Thanks for all the updates! I love the website.

i have also been reading the black dagger brotherhood series by jr ward
but i can only advise ADULT LOVING VAMPIRES to read this series as there is parts only advised for adults i flushed quite alot reading them enjoy
people calm down i mean i first liked the story too but then it just enoyed me that zoey would do th same mistakes again i have stopped reading after the third book but might continue again.
I loved, loved Vampire Academy, it got better with each book, can’t wait for #5.
