Salary disputes with Breaking Dawn

It’s a lot to take in talking about the actors signing contracts for a two part movie and how some of the actors, Kellan and Ashley, have still not made deals holding out for more money.

EXCLUSIVE: Summit Entertainment is working furiously to close the talent deals required to split Stephenie Meyer’s fourth “Twilight” novel into two films. But an unlikely roadblock is holding up an announcement — and could even lead to cast changes for the series’ final installment.
The studio is close to finalizing agreements with leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, all of whom will get big raises to return for a fifth installment of the vampire romance saga. And director Bill Condon is already signed to film two “Breaking Dawn” movies, which would be shot back-to-back starting in the fall and released in November 2011 and summer 2012, respectively.
But Summit is having a harder time locking in some of the franchise’s secondary characters. Deals for Peter Facinelli (who plays Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Bella’s father, Charlie Swan) are done, but we’re told the actors who play the Cullen kids (especially Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene) are trying to sink their teeth into bigger paydays that, at least at this point, the studio behind the billion-dollar franchise is unwilling to provide. “We may have a situation where one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point,” says a source close to the dealmaking.

Now keep in mind nothing has been decided yet, and wheeling and dealing is just a daily part of the Hollywood life especially with a franchise this big. I have a feeling in the end everyone will come to an agreement.
If they don’t though how would you feel about different actors playing the characters you have come to associate with on the screen?

Yeah, I don’t think Summit cares how the fans of Twilight feel if they were to replace Kellan and Ashley. They didn’t even give it a second thought when they fired Rochelle and replaced her within hours with what’s-her-name.

They should just give the money to them, if they sack them, it wouldn’t be twilight with out them. THEY CAN’T CHANGE THE ACTORS!!!!! They are sooo good. They are a billion dollar company, they have the money for it.
I would be sooo sad if Ashley and Kellan got replaced! It won’t be the same without them! Replacing Rachelle as Victoria was one thing, because she hasn’t played a main part (although it was still sad!), but replacing one (or two!) of the main characters would be so sad! I kinda think it’s a sad example of greed though….they are both making more off the Twilight Saga than most of us can make in our lifetime…and they aren’t happy with it? Like it or not, Twilight was what gave them both the boost they needed for their careers!

I like Kellan and Ashley, but we don’t know how much money they are asking for. Maybe they are asking for too much. Even though they are important to the movie (esp. Alice) they haven’t acted for very long and they don’t have large parts. I don’t want to see them go, but be honest, Twilight fans will go see ROb, KS, and Taylor no matter who the minor characters are.
I would be really upset if the actors changed!!!! Breaking Dawn is my favorite book and I am so excited that it will become a movie or two but I would have to say that if any cast members are changed because of money I would not go see the film and be really angry at the actor that just couldnt do the film(s) for less. It would be a huge let done to the millions of fans out there who love all the cast members and are still having a hard time losing the real Victoria!!!
i totally agree with you!!! The actors shouldnt be to selfish they should just accept the fact that maybe summit doesnt have all the money in the world. And if Ashley and Kellan really enjoied making the twilight saga and if they cared about the fanns they would go along with it
Yes, but you have to keep in mind that the Twilight Saga is BILLION dollar franchise! AND, they’re global! I understand that there are studio fees (which they own) and other paychecks that have to be given out (which aren’t more than $1000) and other little extras. But most of the money is being pocketed by the Execs at Summit. So the actors definitely have the right to negotiate. That’s their job… and something to add to their resume. If they continue to make the same measly amount of money for each film, then their future projects won’t pay much. So they have to keep raising the bar. Just like in our own jobs. We deserve a raise once a year; so do they and Summit surely does have the funds. They can simply use the first day sales of this Friday’s early ticket sales to compensate both Kellan and Ashley. So really, the Summit execs are being greedy.
They just need to keep the actors they have now. They fit PERFECTLY! If they get new ones, the last movie won’t be the same, and the characters won’t be either. Not to mention, it will disappoint MANY if not ALL the fans.

kellen and ashley both deserve more money as well they have both helped bring the franchise to it’s success!! i dont believe this should be a two part movie i think they can get it all in one longer movie and if they do decide to make it a two parter having so much time between the two parts is wrong to the fans and ultimatly could be bad for the last one. as we all know the only thing that really happens is the non fight with the valteri.
I would really hate to see either Ashley or Kellan replaced it just wouldn’t be the same. I hope that they can come to an agreement because Summit has already shown us that they can and will replace cast members. Well lets all hope for the best but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
ok so herez my thought i know that yall could careless but i mean still yall cant change the cast now! if they were gna do that they should have done that during new moon or eclipse!! i know they are different directors and they have different points ov views but still. they are going to lose ALOT of viewers if they do because kristen rob and tay arnt the only loved people from the franchise i personally love kellan and peter and ashley playing emmett carlsile and alice. thats like changing taylor or rob or kristen!! i mean they might lose alot of viewers for eclipse since they changed rachelle! and i think if they do there’s gana be a lot of protests like when there were thinking about changing taylor for new moon! they just can do this!!
i think summit should just give them the money. i mean after all they are making a ton off of us fans. the movies wouldnt been the same without ashley or kellan. i wasnt too happy when they replaced the charcter victoria.
Just another example of how Summit is unappreciative, money-hungry and churlish. They are making a ridiculous amount of money from these movies all thanks to Mrs. Meyer! Summit wouldn’t even be making other films w/out Twilight being readily available to put money in their pockets. I’m sure Summit can shell out a few extra hundred thousand dollars to keep the film intact. They are vindictive and for someone to have the audacity to say “We may have a situation where one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point” is absurd and nonsensical being that these are the very people (Kellan & Ashley) giving them a paycheck along side the other actors!
Didn’t they already make their point when they broke their contract with Rachelle and didn’t even have the gall to inform her before making it public all because of a photo shoot that she could have just flown in for?! So ridiculous! I’ll be glad when the Twilight Sage is over that way I don’t have to watch another film by Summit to support their brashness and spiteful staff/owners/etc. We are all putting money in their pockets and they could care less if they make the fans of Twilight buoyant.

All of them have to stay. Even changing Victoria was wrong and would have lost alot of fans (not me). But changing the Cullens is a big no no. They can’t keep the movies going if they’re going to change actors. It won’t be the same without them. It’s not like people won’t notice, because they will and it’ll ruin everything

Summit needs to fix this. Replacing a Cullen is one of the biggest mistakes they could make. Especially Emmett and Alice who are very beloved characters. I wonder how much money we’re talking about? It’s hard to make a fair judgement call when we don’t have a number. I’m hoping Kellan and Ashley are not being ridiculously greedy. But let’s face it, between box office take-in and DVD sales Summit will profit billions from this franchise. Summit made a big mistake regarding Victoria/Rachelle. Replacing a Cullen would be suicide. Who’s with me?

It won’t be right without Ashley and Kellan. I still think the change of Victoria sucks, but I love Bryce, and was never a big fan of the other girl anyways. But replacing Ashley or Kellan would be far too much. It’s not right to change an actor in the middle of their work. It makes for bad filmmaking.

As if they’re gonna kick off Kellan and Ashley, they’ve both just like suggested to get paid a bit more and that is understandable to at least ask especially if its gonna be split into 2 movies and they’re filming basically like its 1. Summit can’t change the actors to main characters like that its not like they’re Victoria.

they HAVE to resign both of them! I don’t think the fans would like the second half of Breaking Dawn with different people playing Alice and Emmett. The two actors completely match the parts. I can’t think of anyone else to take the roles.

I usually just read others comments on this site but need to put my 2 cents in here. I really like both Ashley and Kellen as Alice and Emmett, but they want 4 million per picture for BD 1 & 2! You don’t see PFach and BBurke asking for huge amounts of money and they both are a huge part of the franchise. Also, Kellen is not even in any of the movies that much. I think they are hoping the fans put up a big stink about them possibly not being in the movies and that Summit will cave because of US. I wish someone would give me 75,000-1 million dollars to be part of something I really love … just saying

i think they (ashley&kellan) should accept the offer, i mean, at least for the fans! (cuz BD will suck without them. they totally rock!!!) even if it’s a very little salary. besides, they don’t get to be in the movie like too much, ya know. of course they so rock and everything (they’re part of the cullens!) but i think the salary’s ok considering how much they’ll be in the movie. Seriously, we all know how money hungry Summit Entertainment is. They care NOTHING for the actors nor for the fans I would wager. I do not put it past them to kick anyone out who tries to mess with their bank account.

I don’t think the production company cares if “we” want them to keep the original actors or not. Either way they are sure to make millions….I mean really….would you NOT see the movie if there were different actors??

It probably seems unfair that they both want raises , but Twilights making enough, who cares, just give them raises, if they replace, them then im not going to watch Breaking Dawn, if there going to get rid of them why not replace everyone else too!, When they say Cullen Kids it also includes Jackson and Nikki, but there specfiaclly talking about Ashley and Kellan. I dont blame them though i would wanna a raise too. Twilight makes a lot of money and that alot of it has to go towards the filiming but they should be able to pay them a bit more. No, they must not be replaced with other actors, it was bad that they recast the role of Victoria. Kellan and Ashley must stay, no one else could be Emmett or Alice, it wouldn’t be the same. They should just pay them what they’re asking for.
I would hate it!! I want to see them both return.. no more changes. I hate the fact that Rachel didnt make it for Eclipse. Its just not the same when other ppl come in and try to take over the roll that someone else has built up. I hope that they can all come to some sort of an agreement.
