Xavier Samuel chatted with the Herald Sun about acting including what he’s working on now.
Check it all out here.
Below is an excerpt:
A role in a massive film franchise is a young actor’s dream. Two years ago former Adelaide actor Xavier Samuel got the call to say he would be playing Riley Biers, leader of the army of newborn vampires in the third of the Twilight juggernaut, Eclipse.
“It was awesome, bizarre,” says Samuel who has just turned 30. “I remember I was in LA and I was preparing for another audition and I just tore it up when I got the call.”
Samuel, who grew up in Kurralta Park and went to Rostrevor College with young brother Benedict, filmed the Twilight audition in Sydney. The nature of auditioning for even a film role is that you either hear back or you don’t.
“You develop this mentality; as soon as you do it, forget it and whatever happens happens,” says Samuel. “There’s no one going ‘we really liked your tape’, there’s no real feedback because the volume of material they get is extraordinary.”

The choices she makes, the projects she takes on, are based on what frightens her. “Dude, I have no idea what I’m doing, and that’s kind of how I love it,” Stewart says. “I had no idea Twilight was going to be huge. Certain movies I’ve done I thought were going to be amazing did nothing. So it’s fun not having so much control. It’s kind of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants lifestyle—it’s fun, but it’s scary as fuck. If it’s not scary, it’s usually—you kind of have to step back and go, ‘You’re probably making this decision because it’s right on paper.’ But unless you get that irking fear, it’s not right.”

APP chatted with Stephenie Meyer to talk about a decade of Twilight.
See what she had to say here.
Below is an excerpt:
“It feels like I’m super, super old,” said Meyer, 39. “Like 10 years? Oh, my gosh, I don’t know where it went. But it’s amazing to stop and think back to my life 10 years ago and how drastically it has changed. I just wouldn’t have seen any of it coming. If you had told me back then, ‘Ten years from now you’ll be promoting a movie you produced,’ I’d have been like, ‘What drugs are you taking?’ It’s so bizarre.”
