Here is what their guitarist had to say:

“It’s great to be a part of Twilight,” said Joe guitarist Stuart MacLeod. “‘Thunderclap’ seemed to be the perfect song for the album… It has a darkness to it, but also a real feeling of hope. I hope it’s a good match for the film.”

Interview with St. Vincent’s Annie Clark

Radar Online has an interview with St. Vincent’s Annie Clark. She performs a duet with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon for the song Rosyln on the New Moon Soundtrack.

Read the entire interview here.

Here is an excerpt from the interview: I’m excited about your song being on the New Moon soundtrack, but I just watched your video for Marrow this morning.

Annie: I filmed that in Napa Valley in the middle of August. I think it’s like a 70s horror flick.

Annie: The idea was to make it like a real life creepy, those guys [the producers] do creepy really well, it’s one of my favorite things. I read the treatment and I liked that it was open ended and I liked their special effects with the people moving back and forth, they’re such nice guys, it was nice to work with them again.

Gil Interview

The Twilight Lexicon has an interview with Gil Birmingham.

In the interview he talks about his music. You can read the entire interview at Twilight Lexicon.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: What are the inspirations for your lyrics and music?

My music comes from the emotional place I’m in when I write it. It’s an outpouring of the soul of those emotions through the guitar.

Hurricane Bells Interview

EW has an interview with Hurricane Bells. Steve Schiltz is the only member of Hurricane Bells and was found on his MySpace music page.

His song, Monsters, will be on the New Moon Soundtrack.

Read the entire interview here.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

“Monsters” is one of several leftover songs that Schiltz recorded under the Hurricane Bells moniker when they didn’t work for his main band, Longwave. “It’s a little more rocky, up-tempo, than the stuff that’s on the Hurricane Bells MySpace page — it’s got some fuzzed-out guitar,” he says. Schiltz’s manager quietly got the tune placed on the New Moon soundtrack, keeping him in the dark until approximately last week. “I got an email from the director [Chris Weitz] saying that he wanted to use it as maybe the first song in the film, and I started kinda s—ing my pants!”

St. Vincent Talks Song On New Moon Soundtrack

MTV has an interview with St. Vincent, whose real name is Annie Clark.
She performs a duet with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon for the song Rosyln on the New Moon Soundtrack.

Read the entire interview here.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

“He sings in his beautiful falsetto and I’m actually singing very, very low,” Clark told MTV News. “I think there’s something vampirey and creepy about the two of us singing together. It’s a simple, stripped-down kind of song. It’s really elegant and beautiful.”

Clark and Vernon had been talking about collaborating together for a while, and when Vernon wrote “Rosyln,” neither he nor Clark had any idea the track would end up on the “New Moon” soundtrack. “We recorded the song for the joy of it, and then it looked like the ‘Twilight’ people were interested in using the song for the movie,” she explained. “So it pretty naturally happened.”

A Quick Guide To The New Moon Soundtrack

MTV has an article up giving you a guide to the artists on the New Moon Soundtrack. If you are like me you may not know many of the artists. The truth is I’ve only heard of Muse and The Killers, but truth is couldn’t tell you a song either of them sing except Muse’s song on the Twilight soundtrack.

The truth is I didn’t like the Death Cab for Cutie song so I’m hoping some of the others are better.

You can read the article at MTV to learn more about the bands on the soundtrack.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

Band of Skulls (“Friends”): This White Stripes-by-way-of-Radiohead English trio formed in 2008 and released the blues-rocking Baby Darling Doll Face Honey in March. They played at this summer’s Lollapalooza festival and feature the alternating vocals of bassist Emma Richardson and guitarist Russell Mardsen.

Lykke Li (“Possibility”): Another veteran of Lollapalooza 2009, the Swedish answer to Lady Gaga has gained a legion of fans (among them MTV’s own Kurt Loder) for the intensely rhythmic and hypnotic dance music on her debut, Youth Novels.

Anya Marina (“Satellite Heart”):
The San Diego-based singer/songwriter, sometime actress (“100 Girls”) and radio DJ released her second album of playfully sexy pop tunes, Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II in January. Her songs have been featured “The Real World,” “Gossip Girl,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How I Met Your Mother”
