New York, NY/London, England – October 7th, 2009: MTV will host the exclusive on-air and online world premiere of the new Death Cab for Cutie music video “Meet Me On The Equinox” on Wednesday, October 7th at 8:00pm EST on MTV and MTV.com. The video will debut on MTV Hits, mtvU & MTV Tr3s at 9:00pm EST, and it will make its AMTV / AMTV2 debut starting at 3:00am EST on Thursday, October 8th. The first single from The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, “Meet Me On The Equinox” will premiere on MTV International channels and stream on MTV websites across the globe as Twilight fans gear up for the hotly anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” film next month.
“We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series, and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters,” said Death Cab for Cutie bassist Nick Harmer. “This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film. It just seems a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We are not only proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy but also honored to join so many other fantastic artists that have leant their amazing creativity to this soundtrack.”
The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is set to release on Monday, October 19th. The Twilight Saga: New Moon arrives in theatres on Friday, November 20th in the US and UK.

A Quick Guide To The New Moon Soundtrack
by Leandra on September 22, 2009
in Music, New Moon Movie

MTV has an article up giving you a guide to the artists on the New Moon Soundtrack. If you are like me you may not know many of the artists. The truth is I’ve only heard of Muse and The Killers, but truth is couldn’t tell you a song either of them sing except Muse’s song on the Twilight soundtrack.
The truth is I didn’t like the Death Cab for Cutie song so I’m hoping some of the others are better.
You can read the article at MTV to learn more about the bands on the soundtrack.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
Band of Skulls (”Friends”): This White Stripes-by-way-of-Radiohead English trio formed in 2008 and released the blues-rocking Baby Darling Doll Face Honey in March. They played at this summer’s Lollapalooza festival and feature the alternating vocals of bassist Emma Richardson and guitarist Russell Mardsen.
Lykke Li (”Possibility”): Another veteran of Lollapalooza 2009, the Swedish answer to Lady Gaga has gained a legion of fans (among them MTV’s own Kurt Loder) for the intensely rhythmic and hypnotic dance music on her debut, Youth Novels.
Anya Marina (”Satellite Heart”): The San Diego-based singer/songwriter, sometime actress (”100 Girls”) and radio DJ released her second album of playfully sexy pop tunes, Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II in January. Her songs have been featured “The Real World,” “Gossip Girl,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How I Met Your Mother”

Death Cab For Cutie Interview
MTV has an interview with Death Cab for Cutie. They are contributing the song Meet Me On the Equinox to the New Moon Soundtrack.
Here is an excerpt from the interview:
“The safe route would be to go with the straight performance video, like that Paramore video. But I don’t think we’re going to be outside in the woods … you know, been there, done that. I don’t think we’re going to try to cut a narrative in where we’re all dressed up like vampires running around with fake teeth in,” he laughed. “I’m of the mind-set that the more Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner you can throw in the video, the more popular the video is going to be. Nobody wants to look at us, so we’ll probably be standing in the shadows.”
You can read the entire interview here.
Remember, that the song will be unveiled exclusively on MTV.com on September 13.
You can pre-order the soundtrack on Amazon.
