New Moon wins ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award

New Moon is the winner of the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award.

Here is some information on the award from MTV:

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” has been selected for the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award, which will be presented Thursday at ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. The Fan Choice Award was voted on by nearly 50,000 moviegoers, who were asked on Fandango to select their favorite film of 2009.

In Stephenie Meyer’s book, Edward’s eyes go black in Italy. Why don’t his eyes turn in the film?

“It’s because I screwed up!” Weitz admitted.

Really? He just forgot?

“Well, yeah, I kinda did,” he said. “Well, there are two reasons. One is that I messed up. The other reason is that I actually thought that onscreen it would be quite bizarre to see his eyes go completely black, and that it would be more satisfying and less jarring to have that moment of reunion be a reunion with revivified Edward. But probably, the long and the short of it, there are many details that I did not drop the ball on, and there are some that I did.”

New Moon already broke the record for a midnight showing and according to an article on Variety.com New Moon has broke the record for opening day too.

Here is what Variety had to say:

Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” tore up the box office record for best opening day, grabbing the title away from Warner Bros. “The Dark Knight,” and earning a spectacular $72.7 million yesterday at 4,024 theaters.

An exceptional feat for a film playing outside the summer frame.

There were an array of estimates being reported on the internet about how high the first day of “New Moon” actually was. This morning’s figure is Summit’s official Friday estimate.

“Dark Knight” had minted $67.2 million from 4,366 runs on July 18, 2008 before making a three-day opening weekend of $158.4 million.

Fueling the Friday B.O. for “New Moon” were midnight shows in 3,514 venues which drew a record-breaking $26.3 million for the time slot.

The opening day for “New Moon” posted more than a 100% gain over the first Friday of “Twilight” which made $36 million a year ago and a three-day weekend of $69.6 million.

MTV caught up with Jackson Rathbone on the set of his new movie Girlfriend. He talked all about New Moon.

Rathbone said he will only be in two scenes in the film. The first, as seen in the original trailer, involves him attacking Bella at her birthday party when she gets a paper cut. The second, he said, centers on a family vote to decide whether Bella gets turned into a vampire or not.

The Official New Moon Movie Site now has a tour of the Volturi Lair. Just like the Cullen House and La Push you can get a 360 degree look of the Volturi Lair. Very Cool!! I got the above image from Twifans. It was two images then I put them together to show the whole room. For bigger versions of the pics, to see all the great details go here.

I have also added Volturi Graphics to the New Moon Graphics Section under Character Graphics. Get character bio graphics for Jane, Alec, Aro, Marcus and Caius.
